Casey Baker & The Buffalo Sinners is a four piece, hailing from St. Catharines, Ontario. Having found moderate success with his former band, Sleeper Set Sail (Sonic Unyon), Baker was looking for a musical outlet. Finding himself without a band, Baker pursued a solo career all the while missing the energy and depth a band brought to his songs. Comprised of Kevin Griffiths on guitar, Trevor Speechly, formerly of Sleeper Sets Sail, on bass, Patrick Sirianni of Racecar and Policies & Procedures on drums, the Buffalo Sinners were formed.
The band’s music follows one simple rule; brutal truth! A fresh blend of folk rock and country sets a calm, musical harness for lyrics that have proven to silence crowds. "I'm not afraid to reveal who I am in these songs" says Baker. "These songs are about absolute honesty, and admitting what you desire even if it makes you look like the bad guy".
Influenced by Canadian legends Neil Young, Leonard Cohen, and Hayden, the band has effectively fused story telling and heavy emotion with songs that discuss everything from one night stands to hitch-hiker murder mysteries. In June 2007, they recorded four songs, in two days, at Chalet Studios in Uxbridge, ON. Engineered and produced by Dan Weston (Attack in Black, City and Colour, Rad Affair), these live-off-the-floor sessions would come to be known as “The Frontier EP”. The EP and band have found a home with the Dine Alone family (Attack in Black, Bedouin Soundclash, City and Colour). Available for digital download and purchasable at live appearances, the EP is proving to be very well received, by fans and industry alike.
Recent months have proven to be a new beginning for the four-piece, as their music is gaining momentum and a faithful fan base with each passing day. Baker accompanied, now label mate, City and Colour, as backup guitarist, on the 2007 cross Canada stadium tour, in support of Dashboard Confessional. Pairings such as these have established a national awareness that Baker and his band mates will stop at nothing to pursue. He lets the songs speak for themselves and wins listeners over one ear at a time.
