    Gold Coast singer-songwriter, Casey Barnes, is currently flying high following his inclusion as a top Top Twelve finalist in the most recent series of Australian Idol. Consistently delivering dynamic performances week after week, Casey was highly respected by his peers and his send off was noted as one of the best in the history of the show, with the judges assuring him he would undoubtedly go on to have a highly successful career due to his grace, maturity, solid voice and persistence. Before Australian Idol, Casey had already made his mark on the music industry and is one of Australia's most talented, emerging singer-songwriters. One of his biggest highlights to date has been opening for Bryan Adams at the outdoor concert series 'A Day on the Green' Following his set, the demand for his independently released album at the merchandising tent was overwhelming, with over 200 copies selling out. This was the start of something special for Casey and he has gone on to play shows alongside acts such as Eskimo Joe, Vanessa Amorosi, The Whitlams, Jack Jones and Diesel amongst others. 2010 has been a busy year for Casey with the release of his 5 track EP 'Red Lion Motel' and more recently his 'self titled' full length album which have both been well received and also featured two single releases. His most recent singles have had extensive radio play around the country with the music videos also seen on programs such as Video Hits, Hit List TV and Landed Music to name a few After a recent successful five week self funded promotional tour of the US and Europe, Casey decided it was time to explore other styles of music and test his talent. What transpired was proof there is no musical environment that he cannot adapt to. Australian DJ/Producer Marco Demark enlisted Casey to feature on his reworking of the Elton John classic, "Tiny Dancer". The track reached number 1 on most of the dance charts in the UK, and then went onto reach Top5 on most of the dance charts throughout Europe including 1 in Italy followed by 5 in Casey's home base, Australia. The track was also added to the daytime play lists of the biggest radio stations in the UK; Radio 1, Capital, Kiss FM and Galaxy. Superstar UK DJ Pete Tong chose "Tiny Dancer" as an 'Essential Tune' and following extensive play on his influential show on Radio 1. The tracks success has brought about further opportunities with Casey now working on future releases with DJ/Producers including the likes of superstar DJ Tiesto among others. On top of Casey's own personal love of music and performing he also recently found time to organise a successful series of charity concerts to raise money for his chronically ill little mate, 13 year old Connor Maclean, who has a rare health condition. It was a story so well received that it was covered by "60 Minutes" and went to air on Channel 9. Jet Trails is the title of Casey Barnes’ fourth album. It’s also the story of his life. Casey’s music has made an impact around the world. He’s had dance hits in Europe, written songs in America, appeared in a top-rating TV show in Australia, and played alongside many international stars. Casey started his singing career in his home state of Tasmania, before relocating to the Gold Coast, which he now calls home. Casey’s songs are honest and heartfelt. The emotions are genuine. The Jet Trails single, Michelle, documents how Casey’s life changed when he met his wife. Casey wrote the song in Nashville with Aussie hit-maker Rick Price (Not A Day Goes By, Heaven Knows), who later posted this message: “Man, his eyes lit up when he talked about her and his little daughter – great to see a guy loving on his family like that.” Family and community are important to Casey. At the start of 2011, his defiant Never Break You became an anthem after the devastating Queensland floods and Cyclone Yasi. The song soared to number one on the AIR charts, Top 10 on iTunes, and number six on ARIA’s Australian Artists Singles chart, with Casey donating all proceeds to the Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal. Australians got to know Casey’s story when he was a top 12 finalist in the final series of Australian Idol in 2009. But Casey already had a career before appearing on the show, having released three albums, played alongside Bryan Adams, and had a number one hit on the European dance charts, singing Marco Demark’s remake of Elton John’s Tiny Dancer.  “I never thought I’d go on Idol, but it changed my life in a positive way,” Casey reflects. “It gave me massive exposure and I’m still great friends with the rest of the Top 12.” In fact, Casey co-wrote two of the Jet Trails songs – Running To You and Falling For You – with fellow Idol finalist Hayley Warner, the 2009 runner-up. The most over-used word on Idol was “journey”. But it’s a fitting description of Casey Barnes’ musical life. He’s an artist who’s not afraid to take his chances and chase his dream. And despite the many achievements so far, you get the feeling that this journey has many highlights to come, as Casey continues to blaze a trail around the world. Recent Album Review: I have two words for you - Bloody Brilliant! Casey Barnes has long been an Australian secret, an artist with a guitar case tattered and torn from the truckloads of gigs and late nights spent kicking new songs around this dusty country. He’s well and truly paid his dues, travelled the far expands of the globe and to our advantage the result of the journey thus far is a self titled cracker of an album jam packed full of solid heart felt killer songs from a guy who really knows what he’s on about. Far beyond the wretched stench of manufactured solo artists that seem to be filling up our TV screens, Casey brings to the ears of the world a creditable, yet consumable, damn catchy, and totally REAL collection of songs. It’s great to hear an album of such calibre making its electronic debut onto iTunes, with the world at his feet. Its times like these that I realise how lucky we are to be born into the age of the internet and have access to so much independent music from all over the world. The Casey Barnes album has been an awesome addition to my ever expanding iTunes collection and well worth checking out for yourself .
