Casey Carlson’s passion for singing began about the time she learned how to speak. Friends and family remember her listening to Janet Jackson and Whitney Houston and singing their hit songs, toddler lisps and all. At two years of age, Casey would turn around and say, “Now I’m going to sing Whitney Hooooston”, delivering every line like the artist. From that time on, people knew that Casey was destined to be on stage.
Casey’s love for singing and dancing followed her throughout school and found her auditioning for roles from the age of 9. She also became a writer, director, and choreographer for several of the school’s productions. The summer between her junior and senior year, Casey was invited to study at the prestigious NYU in their CAP 21 musical theatre program. This was an honor that was give to only 32 students from across America. There, she continued to study dancing, music and acting.
Casey has always been an exceptional student, being a part of the National Honor Society in a leadership role, and graduating from school as Valedictorian. Casey is continuing her education at the University of Minnesota as an honors student, studying journalism and mass communication.
In 2008, Casey became a model for the first time, landing the title of “Cover Girl” for a calendar called “Campus Girls USA”, benefiting Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
Casey’s big break came when she decided to audition for American Idol 8. She auditioned in Kansas City, where she first sang “A Thousand Miles” in front of Paula Abdul, Kara DioGaurdi, Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell. She received a golden ticket to Hollywood and prepared for months for the grueling week of auditions. Out of the crowd of contestants to make it to Hollywood she was one of 36 to make it through the week and into the Semi-Final Round. She was one of twelve to sing in the first round of the Semi-Finals. Only three moved on to the final thirteen, Danny Gokey, Michael Sarver, and Alexis Grace. Casey says she will never forget the memories and friendships she made during her time on American Idol. She is proud to say that the show has gained her loyal fans, reaching from the Philippines to New Zealand to Brazil.
Casey is currently an on air TV personality with the CW network in the Twin Cities as a host for “The Beat” and segment emcee. The CW Twin Cities Crew also hosts local events and interviews celebrities involved with the station (Will Smith, Kate Voegele, Howie Mandel etc.).
Recently, she performed in front of 18,000 people at the country music festival, Winstock where she shared the spotlight with Leeann Rimes, Heidi Newfeild, Big and Rich, and opened up for Brooks and Dunn. She was also asked to perform the national anthem at “Minnesota Idols Night” for the Minnesota Lynx. Fellow American Idol contestant Jesse Langseth also participated.
Casey is also working on her debut CD with producer, St Paul Peterson (Prince, Paula Abdul, Kenny Loggins), which will be released later this year.

Hi, I hope your week is going well and you are okay. My week is going so far as planned with a bit of chaos thrown in lol, but im not complaining .Well I am going to do a bit of this and a bit of that then go into my studio , yes I know boring but get on with some songs , hoping to start advertising soon for a vocalist and plan to do another album next year when I find someone , ill certainly have enough songs ready by then to release another album..lol.
