style has two important aspects, expectation and surprise. it is the pattern of those surprises that gives an artist their style. the style is the artist himself.
i try not to put any sort of labels on my music but if there had to be a name it would be called dubfunk. there you heard it here first.
it's a combination of music i have deep respect for, like roots dub/reggae and ol'school funk mashed up with stuff that i find relevant in todays world, like breaks, step, hop, grime,
and downtempo.
having said that however i play just about anything as long as its good and make people shake their ass or bop their heads. straight up, i play for the true headz and the lovely ladies of course. after all, that's what being a good dj is about. i never really follow trendz but rather try to find new sounds that i and hopefully other people dig.
the truth is i've been doing this thing for a hella long time. along the way i've had the opportunity to work with a lot of amazing people on some truely incredible events, most notably the om summer solstice festival. i also had the good fortune of being able to travel to many great places and check out all types of scenes. that's probably my favourite part about the job, getting to see new people and places all the time.
as far as making music goes, i keep myself busy with a couple projects on the go. i'm making beats for my drum n' bass outfit the spazzmonks, while working with the nu jazz society and a ton of amazing jazz fiends on a thing we like to call break jazz. bringing together the dj culture and a live band into a new realm of jazz where the emphasis is on the groove but with a live improve style that is jazz.
