Four Chords and the Truth, Cas McCrea’s first independent recording is the result of an artist who is committed to honing his craft. Recorded at CBC’s Studio H, these songs were produced by Glenn Meisner. The CD has earned a 2006 Music Nova Scotia nomination for Country/Bluegrass recording of the year. "These songs are about people and the experiences I have had with them." Remarks Cas.
"Until Next Time" from Four Chords and the Truth is thick in texture and employs unforgettable, heart-felt images reminiscent of Harry Chapin's "Cat's in the Cradle". "I hope the listener enjoys listening to this recording as much as I do." Admits Cas. This prolific songwriter has been penning songs and performing for most of his life. His songs are full of catchy melodies and hooks.
This Multi-instrumentalist comes from a musically gifted family and has been a music lover ever since he was in the crib. At parties his parents would throw, he couldn’t sleep unless music was playing. Cas has established himself as a talented performer, powerful songwriter and respected musician. Cas exclaims, “I fight and I work hard for what I have, so I’m proud of it.” In June 2005, CBC featured Cas on their weekly program Atlantic Airwaves. In August of 2005, Cas was crowned Natal Day Idol at the Esso talent competition held at Alderney Landing. In May of 2004, Cas took home top prize in the open mic competition held at Halifax’s Pogue Fado. The song Everything, appeared in the award winning independent film “Gambling With the Past”. “I’m driven and I love the idea of creating music out of life experiences. At the end of the day I hope I can inspire people.” Adds Cas.
Cas has traveled across Canada with the Electric Willows, performing in clubs, cafes on college radio and on morning talk shows. "My motivation and inspiration come from the fact that I love music." says Cas. Recently the band completed a tour of Cape Breton and Nova Scotia, highlighted by opening up for Dave Gunning at Pt. Hawkesbury's Granville Green. They also played a benefit show this year for the Kiwanis Society at Halifax's Seahorse. Currently Cas is working on the follow up to the debut. "The next album is gonna have more edge and I'm gonna experiment with some tools I have tucked away"
