Caspa Codina is an artist on the verge of breaking from underground into the public-eye..
Several sought-after 12» releases over the last few years have earned him fans amongst the most notable Djs & club-goers. DJs including: Andrew Weatherall, John Kennedy (Xfm), Teifschwarz, Rob da Bank, Richard X, Ivan Smagghe, Matthew Herbert; have been spinned his 12”s since the beginning.
And his single "Tell Me" become a much loved classic at Momos & Sketch.
"Get Your Motor Started" is the penultimate single release before his long-awaited debut album “Caspa Codina” comes out in 2007.
It is Caspa at his most up-front, dance-floor friendly. A Duane Eddy-style-guitar-driven Romp; it brings to mind ‘Thin White Duke’ era Bowie, Talking Heads quirkiness, but with a post-disco, electro bounce that will drive anyone who hears it [whether dancing in a club or nodding their heads as they drive their car] buck wild…
This is the magic of the sound of Caspa; influences taken from the most special moments of 70s & 80s pop & funk, but worked by producer Gabriel Olegavich into a sound that could only be created in 2007.
In fact the mysterious Caspa Codina is really an alter-ego (or imaginary cousin!) of Gabriel Olegavich, the super busy production & writing talent behind Lady Sovereign, UK electro/punk band Spektrum, Grime act Medasyn, and up-coming Manchester MC Envy. So thank god, Caspa has finally managed to persuade his other half to spend some more time in the studio & deliver the fanastic Get Your Motor Started (and the many other quirky-pop tracks of the debut album).

Firstly, thanks for adding me (I'm just getting the hang of MySpace so apologies for slow response). Secondly, that's great news, I will keep my eyes peeled for your album, for sure! Downloaded the full set of originals and remixes and was great to be able to compare your work to that of others. You've definitely got a unique sound, I look forward to hearing more. I love anything that is unusual, used to be into a lot of stuff on Hydrogen Dulebox, more recently James Holden has lit up my stereo and also (for something truly unusual) Asa-Chang & Junray... Best, Joe
