A band from Derry called TOEJAM were a huge influence on CASPER ,they were the tightest 3 piece band of their time,other bands were RUSH,UFO,THIN LIZZY,DEEP PURPLE,BLACKFOOT,LED ZEP,LYNYRD SKYNYRD,DOOBIE BROS,BUDGIE,LITTLE FEET
CASPER are a rock trio from Omagh,the boys have enjoyed playing rock music for years up and down the lenght and breadth of Ireland starting with a 34 date tour in the 80's.The band have gone from strength to strength and have just recorded and 'self' produced their first album 'RELIGHT THE FIRE INSIDE',which boasts 11 songs in total.
CASPER have headlined in the top venues across Ireland,and played support to bands like MAMMAS BOYS and HORSLIPS,they have also played to thousands in the SLANE camp site the night before the Rolling Stones took to the main stage the next day.
The boys took a break from gigging when the 'punk' era took hold and with rock venues started closing down had no choice but to call it a day,BUT NOW THEY ARE BACK, AND WITH VENGANCE!!!!!!! they were asked to play a benifit gig for a friend who passed away (Jim Hynes) and the 'buzz' of playing together again, after a 14 year break, must have relit the fire inside ,hence the name of the new album.In December 2005 they held a 25th anniversary gig and people queued for ages to get into the small venue,as the band were unaware that such a huge crowd would turn up,in fact people were turned away.Since that gig CASPER have a new site www.casper-rockband.co.uk with photos,DVD link,forums,band profiles etc (check it out also) played a handful of gigs and took 6 months to record and produce (produced by Mickey Tracey) an 11 track debut album,with 10 of the songs being written in the 80's & 90's,but having been given a good dusting down with added searing guitar solos,driving drums and pounding bass it lives up to anything produced today by some of the top studios and record companies.
CASPER have also just been informed that they will be supporting British Rock Legends UFO in Belfast in March,this ia after Wonderland Promotions attended the album launch gig in Omagh (CASPER home town in N.I.) in December 06,so things are on the up and up for CASPER.
JOOSE TV have also produced a new DVD for the band,Ed Mc Caffery (producer) & crew filmed the boys at the album launch and have got the dvd up on this page .CASPER also got the 'green light ' from Wonderland Promotions,Belfast/Dublin, to play support to British Rock Legends UFO in March 07 (check out UFO Blog) and have been promised more support slots in 2008, so watch this space or blog for full details.
