TheeCasual Plaids are a three-piece, all-original rock band that has been delivering a high-octane blend of punk, rock, and psychedelia (which they call "punkadelic rock") throughout the Seattle area since their inception in 1984. They were originally founded by Seattle locals, singer/songwriter Randy Parsons and drummer extraordinaire Kevin White, who have played together live and in recordings ever since. Their first demo enjoyed some airtime on KCMU (University of Washington's then campus radio station) and was debuted on KJET by none other than Bruce Pavitt (of Subpop fame) on his indie radio show, "Subpop 100".
Over the years they had played most of the Seattle venues of the day, but gigging slowed down from around 1993 - 1998. Kevin continued playing in many bands (Gary Heffern, Goody Blick & the Country Kind, Kaz Murphy, and Nature Boy Saints to name a few) while Randy took some time off to develop a home recording studio and work on new material, occasionally performing with odd projects (Wig Mode Alpha, Mojo and Prima Buka). They reformed with a new and enthusiastic bass player just moved up from San Francisco, David Busby in 1998 and have been playing around the Seattle and Kitsap County areas ever since.
Randy moved to Bremerton in 2001, and is still able to get the guys out to practice every week. They have formed a publishing label called Quasiphonics Publishing in anticipation of their brand new CD release titled "Comic Strip Prophecy", which features new dimensions in their sound leaning towards the harder rock spectrum, while maintaining the unique quirky song arrangement style that has become their hallmark.
