Influences
Every sound that enters through our ears influences us to some degree. A handful of influential bands are Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Funkadelic, CCR, The Mars Volta, Primus, Radiohead, P Funk...names of countless other phenomenal bands elude me..
In the spring of 2002, a young group of mischievous 12 year old skateboarders were wandering through the woods. Out of nowhere, they heard a voice that seemed to be calling their names. Ethan, Daniel, and Haven immediately knew and understood that this was their true calling. The kids listened hard and followed the voice down an endless labrinth of trees and vines for hours and hours. Along their journey, the youth found themselves in utter confusion, but the voice still called, and so they pressed on. They faced countless amounts of deadly trials, tribulations, riddles, monsters, and the like. It took a magnitude of courage and inner strength not found in the average traveler, but the trio escaped the forest intact.
The boys never actually found the source of the voice, but later that week, they decided to form a band. Haven had always shown an interest in the bombastic sounds produced by drums, so it was only natural that he would sit at the drumset. Young Ethan had been plinking out the riffs of Smashmouth and Nirvana since he was ten, and his charvel guitar always begged for a good scream. After the realization that the trumpet provides no bottom end whatsoever, Dan picked up his first bass and began thumping out whole notes to the first musical creations of a new breed of rockers deemed.....CASUALTIES TO THE CAUSE..................With the birth of this band, these kids were washed over with a new purpose in life and an even greater destiny to fulfill. They immediately began thrashing out black sabbath and ozzy riffs and came up with growling tunes such as Words of Wisdom, Untitled, The Funky Song, and Straight To HELL!.
After the band's first concert at Homer Middle School, CttC showed the world that they meant business. And it was a groovy business indeed. With the addition of crowd surfing Miro Schaad in 8th grade, the sound of CttC took a drastic shift from the sweet riff based, rough cut, raw hard rock action played in Dan's living room, to a 60's centered classic rock zeppelin/ccr sound with the occaisional van morrison song. High school dawned on the zoned out teens and their musicality grew exponentially. Casualties to the Cause have undergone many changes in style due to the rapid influx of new ideas and popular music combined with a yearning to acheive a strikingly original and creative sound. That goal will always be sought after, but one thing's for sure: CTTC shall strike chords and rumble and rattle rhythms that will force foes of magnificent tyrannical power to their knees and leave the monstrous towers of pure evil in ruins. The windows of the towers? Shambles. The sound of this band will forever ring throughout the valley of justice and bring peace to the unsettled waters of planet earth. Casualties to the Cause,......ASSEMBLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
