Catahoula Brown is the alter-ego of Canadian Blues Musician, Chris Weagle. When asked why he chose the stage name 'Catahoula Brown' he simply said, "Well, I have a 'Catahoula' dog...and he's mostly 'Brown'...besides, all the early Bluesmen had aliases. You know...like 'Muddy Waters, 'Howlin' Wolf'...it's really out of respect for the Blues Pioneers". "I also wanted to separate myself from the earlier music I'd been writing and performing; which I wanted to leave behind, the stuff I was doin' under my 'real' name".
Weagle had written over 200 unrecorded songs, mostly in the Country/Folk/Rock genre. Blues Artist Brown, has recorded 2 CD's, the 1940's inspired, all original, acoustic, 'Cur Dog Blues' (2004) and his latest, 'Let That Boy Boogie', which sounds like it could have been recorded in some North Mississippi 'Juke Joint'. Both, were recorded by James R. Shaw of Redfish Audio. Both, feature percussionist 'Extraordinaire' Jordi Comstock.
Catahoula Brown has been pushing his career at a slow, steady pace 'cause as he puts it, "The Blues don't rush for no one!".
