Cataleptic Burial was formed in November 2007, we are the original Cataleptic Burial, so please do not get us confused with the other ones. We are what you might call a "Live Band" which means we are better live then on CD. The band started when Erl Munrath introduced David Preston to Shane Mulligan, and Micheal Steptoe. Immediately they started writing music. Shortly proceeding they finished the songs "Regicide, Atrocity, Pray For Mercy, Laodicea, Severance and Suffering, and Mortisson. These songs were recorded but none of them were ever released because the quality of there writing was not good enough. Directly after writing these songs they started gigging every chance that they could. Playing at venues such as "The Fairgrounds", and "Room With A Brew" (In Leonardtown). These were some of their usual venues. Occasionally they played in places such as "My Brothers Place" (In Waldorf) and "Boatmans" (In Ridge) . After that they had several rhythm guitarists try out, some made it into the band but none of them lasted for very long.
Following this long strain of shows they decided to take a show break to write some new material. Two of these songs "Reborn In Affliction, and Diminishing the Covenant" were never played live or recorded for various reasons. This break lasted for about seven months. In this time they wrote six songs, they also only played two shows. One of which was their first national show "The Blood Apocalypse Festival" with touring bands "Suffocation, Decrepit Birth, Veil Of Maya, and White Chapel." This show was very much a success it helped them get their name out there. The band soon after took some more time off to fix the material written during the break.
Months later in 2009 the band tried out Zack Grant the current vocalist of the band. This completed the four piece band consisting of Micheal Steptoe on guitar, Shane Mulligan on drums, David Preston on bass and Zack Grant on vocals. After Zack got the songs down (after only one month) they entered the studio starting on their demo with D2C Studios, engineered by Matt Brookins. This demo should be released sometime in July 2009, it will be consist of the six songs "Disincarnate, Misconceptive Birth, Thanatopsis, Image of Christ, Fruitless Efforts Of Disavowment, and Inimica". To compromise with their budget they decided to record their full length album elsewhere. The studio is unknown at this time.
This album will be compiled of the nine most technical and brutal songs they have ever written. "Cosmic Extinction, Inimica, Oceanic, Disincarnate, Image of Christ, Thanatopsis, Fruitless Efforts Of Disavowment, Misconceptive Birth, and Entirety Consumed". Changes have been made to all of the songs that appeared on the demo to assure that they are all at their peak. There is no release date or a name for this album yet. But their hope is to get it completed by Park Rock Fest 2009. More information will be released at a later date.
