Catalyst are a five piece rock/metal band based in the Mold area of North Wales who have been playing gigs around the local area for around 3 years with two different lineups. Catalyst play real rock music, not the bullshit you hear on the radio and see on the TV these days. Im talking about bands that rock e.g Metallica, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and Megadeth. Our setlist contains some covers of bands like these, but also many of our own songs which usually begin from riffs and ideas from James the are worked on by the whole band. These are quite diverse in genre with James's and Lewis's blues influences coming through as well as Hadley's "fingers of steel" metal and Mike's love for classic rock. However the things you can always be sure on are some crazy Hadley basslines, an awesome rhythm section provided by Mike and Lewis, some bone crunching riffs and solos from Jables all topped off with the kickass vocals of Sarah Boyd.
It all started off when James and Mike decided it would be cool to make a band and started playing covers of rock songs. James had a friend Lewis in school and who was a drummer so we thought we'd have a jam. This went quite well, but it was a few months before we completed the lineup with Mr Hadley on bass and Dean Williams on vocals. The band then started to play local pubs and clubs and came second in the Llangollen Royal Pavillion Battle of the Bands establishing themselves as one of North Wales best local rock bands. It was during this time we recorded the "Just Let Go" EP which contained 5 tracks of our own material.
However, due to arguments within the band Dean quit in the summer of 2005. It was then Catalyst's search for a new singer began. This is when Sarah joined the band. At the time she was playing drums in another local band called Mainstream but she parted company with them to join Catalyst as our new vocalist and songwriter. New material was written and new covers chosen before again playing many gigs around the local area, winning over new fans ever time we played. Also we recorded another five track demo CD entitled "Free Enough" and these are the tracks you hear on this webpage.
After a break of four months which saw Catalyst dispand as James went to university (he's back now), Catalyst have now returned and are looking to continue where they left off and start kicking some ass again. Gigs are being lined up for February and new material/covers worked on. Keep it metal, and we look forward to seeing you at our next gig! CATALYST ARE BACK

A recent reviewers talking about Catalyst:
"Holy crap, you guys kick some fat ass! Now this is rock! The drums are perfect for this kind of metal meets classic rock fusion. Bass is firm and relentless. Your guitarist is so talented, I want to put my head through a wall in a fit of jealousy!"
"Catalyst are the best thing to come out of Wales since coal!"
