Catapults and Parachutes, the Brooklyn based jazz quartet turned experimental groove band, was formed in 2007, one day before it's first tour. After amassing a lexicon of untitled, angular tunes, Cameron Holt enlisted three like-minded classmates from the New School for Jazz as collaborators: bassist Tucker Yaro, guitarist Rafal Sarnecki, and drummer Luke Schneiders. The band drove a minivan from Brooklyn to Eugene, Oregon, playing at jazz bars, rock clubs, and a clock shop balcony along the way. They had many triumphs (Luke jumped over a rattlesnake) and ultimately the band decided to continue playing music together.
One year later, upon completing their self-titled EP and manufacturing their own cd cases from corrugated cardboard, the band flew to Poland to begin its second tour. While living out of Rafal's VW Bora and eating mostly at gas stations, CaP managed to reach a much broader audience by playing festivals (Riga Ritmi in Latvia, Muhu Future Music Festival in Estonia, and Prestinice in Czech Republic) and opening for invariably amazing local acts.
The band is currently residing in America and plotting its next move.
