But recently I lost a few loved ones, and one of my biggest regrets was not thanking people enough when I needed to take time to slow down to tell them I love them. So here….before it’s too late. I thank you all. And you mean the world to me. I never have enough time to call you individually. But you know I love you so much!!! I would not be here today without any of your help. God told me to thank you more than I can say. I am one hell of a blessed “Cat.” Thank you!!!!!
Cat Chang is no stranger to the music business and since a young child was exposed to rigorous musical training. She is a classically trained artist who started at the tender age of 5 and by the age 10 was professionally trained in classical piano, voice and violin. Cat was born and lived in Queens, NY, for several years then moved to Asia where she went to school and because of her father’s international business demands required the family to move regularly. Every school Cat attended she was involved in music and, often was the president of her choir group or the leader of a cheerleading squad. As a teenager in high school, Cat made the shocking announcement to her parents she was moving to the United States. She packed her bags and flew 15 hours from Korea to the US and that was where she claimed her independence. Throughout high school she lived with a family member in Tampa, FL and received her high school diploma. It was a big step for someone so young who, at the time, was feeling uncertain about her future.
Since high school, Cat has lived in several different cities across the United States before finally landing and making her home in Atlanta. Cat has always been friendly and outspoken, and it didn’t take long before her beauty caught the eyes of several photographers. This marks the start of her modeling career and portfolios, which included editorial and convention show modeling. Then, Cat was honored with a scholarship at Georgia State University. During her college years, Cat also joined a local cover band and worked in recording studios at nights with several independent producers. It was while working with the band that Cat realized her dream. MUSIC. In 2005, Cat received her Bachelors degree in Music Management and Broadcasting. "I really didn't want to finish college because I was making music day and night. But I come from a traditional family so my dad made sure I finish college."
In late 2005, Cat took her music into full swing by forming her own 8-piece band called "The Cat Chang Show” and released her debut album on iTunes “The Cat Chang Show” by 2007. The success of the Cat Chang Show is what got her to where she is today. Today, Cat performs nationally and internationally as a solo artist. She has performed in places that include Greece, Korea, Las Vegas. Cat has made a name for herself as the "International Artist" she has always wanted to be.
"I simply love making music and performing and when it touches people other than myself, I say to myself ‘that’s why I am on this earth’. I enjoy the feedback I get from my fans who tell me that my music is like their therapy and because of this I will never stop making music. To me, it is not about the money or the fame. I will be making music and performing until I'm dead because this is my utmost passion. Life is all about pursuing your happiness!"
Some of Cat Chang's proud career moments are: Performing a piano rendition for Hillary Clinton's Dinner Party in 2005 -Being praised by music industry's notary, Terry Lewis (Long time producer of Janet Jackson) as the "Next Female Prince"-Opening Concert for the Atlanta Gay Pride 2008 at the Coca Cola Main Stage, which attracts over 200,000 people every year.-Singing the National Anthem for the MMA/UFC for ESPN-Wedding Performance at the Las Vegas Bellagio 2009.
Cat is currently working on her second album with talented producers including Vision who has worked with the former Diddy's group ‘B5’ and ‘Mya’, and the producer Dez of ‘112’ and ‘Lloyd’. Previous producers include well-known names such as Terry Lewis and Big Jim Wright of ‘Janet Jackson’, Lawyer-Jeffrey Smith of ‘Mary J. Blige’ and Elton John, Buckwild of ‘50Cent’ and ‘Nas’, Shakespeare of ‘Destiny's Child’, Manager-Tonia Kempler of ‘Def Soul NYC’.
Aside from performing, Cat is also a proud business owner and president of her music academy ‘Cat Chang Entertainment’. She takes great pride in influencing young children and teens with the gift of music. Although Cat’s days and nights are filled with making and recording music, and teaching, she loves to spend time with her friends and family, kickbox, bake and play with Diamonde, her white Persian cat.
