"My musical heroes come from the deepest treasure trove of American roots music. I love how all the music can be captured by one person with a guitar, voice and stomping feet. All the music is in there: Bass, melody, harmony and rhythm, sounding like a whole dance band or orchestra. Like most musicians, I learned from recordings at first but then got to know and learn directly from some fantastic original artists like Jessie Mae Hemphill, Johnny Shines, Henry Townsend, John Jackson and Honeyboy Edwards. What an amazing gift. I'm proud to keep this tradition alive and kicking, and hopefully take it to the next level. National and acoustic guitars are wonderous instruments and I'm tickled to hear how playing them gets reinvented over and over again. Defining moments remain with me, like being scared to death, riveted by Son House for the first time. Laughing out loud hearing Joseph Spence. Doing a bucking bronco dance to Leo Kottke. Backflip time with Sister Rosetta Tharpe. It goes on and on..."

Just thought we would say that everyone here is looking forward to welcoming you on the 13th Nov and that if you have any songs or videos we would love to add them to our page.
Oh, Mr. Catfish, since a long time I hear your music. It is always awesome to my ears how you adopted early american blues, jazz & Hawaiian music to your very own style. Takin' my time to say hello and thank you very much for your music ...and thanks for the add. All the best to your life, Jost
It's a real pleasure to discover a true Delta Blues lover which keep this music alive today. I'm also fascinated by the National guitars. When are you coming to play in France ?
Hello Mr. Catfish, thank you for being a virtual friend! I have been a fan of yours for years! Greetings from Old Germany (when do you come over here??) with kind regards to Penny

Thanks for the Friend invite Fishman---hey, it says here on your site you live in Iowa City? How is it I see you hanging around Washington, Iowa all the time? Even last night!
We have seen you a number of times, played on a bill with you once a long time ago. You are wonderful, and OUR band is defined, in part, by NOT moving to Iowa City, not becopming your true brother of the Iowa sod-- a bitter sweet thing, years ago. So, we feel connected in a mystical way that cannot be dashed off on myspace.
Welcome to myspace, and another permutatin on the music hustle for love and truth and beauty and genius and virtue.
