En 1976, Catherine Ferry, jeune chanteuse débutante, représente la France avec la chanson "1,2,3" composée par Tony Rallo et écrite par Jean-Paul Cara. La France, comme les jurys de nombreux pays, est séduite par cette jeune chanteuse qui se classe 2ème.
Parmi les choristes de Catherine, le groupe Mélodie SA , Guy Balavoine, Patrice Schreider, Bernard Serré et un tout jeune chanteur, Daniel Balavoine. Il signait, paroles et musique, de 'Petit Jean' la face B du disque. Il a trouvé dans la voix de Catherine, autant de force et de tendresse que dans la sienne, un alter ego vocal.
Festival de Yamaha au Japon ...
Après le concours, les radios, les télés, les galas en France, en Europe et une tournée au Japon ainsi que le Festival de Yamaha à Tokyo, Catherine Ferry enregistre plusieurs 45 tours et un album chez Barclay, sous l'honorable direction artistique de Léo Missir.
Bonjour, Bonjour...
En 1981, Daniel présente Catherine à Bernard de Bosson, PDG de WEA France.
En 1982,selon la devise : "Qui se ressemble s'assemble" sort alors chez WEA le titre "Bonjour, Bonjour" sur des paroles de Linda Lecomte et musique de Daniel Balavoine qui remportera un grand succès.
Abbacadabra...
En 1983,Catherine participe, au conte musical "Abbacadabra "imaginé par Alain Boublil sur les musiques d'Abba.
En même temps, Catherine sort son deuxième 45 tours "Grandis pas".
Vivre avec la musique... En 1984, sort l'album "Catherine Ferry" où l'on trouve 'Vivre avec la musique'.
Pour la réalisation de ce premier L.P chez WEA, le déjà célèbre Andy Scott met à son service ses oreilles et son art et donne vie avec la voix de Catherine aux musiques de Daniel, de Joe Hammer, de Michel Rorive, aux mots de Daniel, de Linda Lecomte, de Francis Wauthers, Bernard Balavoine et de Patrick Dulphy.
En 1986, Daniel laisse inachevé le texte d'une chanson écrite à l'origine pour Frida du groupe Abba "The Face' dont Catherine devait faire une version française et c'est Jean-Jacques Goldman qui reprendra le projet pour faire naître "Quelqu'un Quelque part".
En 1988, Dany Darras (ex-membre du groupe Présence, réalisateur de Words de F.R David), compose avec Robert Fitoussi les titres "Rendez-vous" et "Manille" avec Basile Leroux, un des plus grands guitaristes français. Joëlle Kopf (Femme Libérée de Cookie Dingler et Adam et Yves de Zazie) y collabore pour les paroles.
Catherine repart en tournée mais sa voix s'efface ensuite un peu des ondes car elle entame la plus belle carrière : Maman ! Lucie, sa fille est sa première fan et dit que sa maman doit chanter comme hier, comme aujourd'hui et surtout demain.
Catherine Ferry chante des nouveaux titres paroles de Nicolas Peyrac et musiques de Fabrice Gratien, deux talents au service d'un autre, la voix de Catherine. Linda Lecomte

In 1981, Daniel introduced Catherine to Bernard de Bosson, CEO of WEA / France.
In 1982, the song "Bonjour, Bonjour" was released at WEA with the lyrics written by Linda Lecomte and the music of Balavoine..a big success
In 1983, Catherine sang in the musical fairy tale "Abbacadabra" written by Alain Boublil, based on Abba's songs. At the same time, she recorded the song 'Grandis pas'.
In 1984 , the album, Catherine Ferry was released at WEA on which we can find 'Vivre avec la Musique'... an other success.
For the producing of this L.P, the already famous Andy Scott devoted all his ears and his art to Catherine's voice who gave life to Daniel, Joe Hammer, Michel Rorive 's musics, and to Linda Lecomte, Francis Wauthers, Bernard Balavoine, Patrick Dulphy and Daniel 's lyrics.
In 1986, life didn't permit to Daniel to write the French lyrics of a song he wrote for Frida of Abba “The Face” whose he wanted Catherine to make a French version and it is Jean-Jacques Goldman who wrote the lyrics to give birth to "Quelqu'un quelque part".
