Cathy Serrano, solo acoustic guitar & vocals, occasionally Native American Flute. DUO PERFORMANCES featuring Mike Patterson, a very well known local jazz bass performer, who also plays acoustic dobro, guitar and percussion. Michael also plays saxophone and other instruments, and it is such a pleasure to play with him, he adds a whole new dimension to our performances. I also have occasional performances with other artists, such as Mike Andrews and Maurice Turner. It's always fun!

Influences
The 70's (in total); John Denver, Reba McIntyre, Indigo Girls, Eagles, Norah Jones, Shelby, Joni Mitchell, Jewell Kilcher, Joan Baez, Sarah McLachlan, Stones, CCR, Three Dog Night, etc... more recently Ryan Adams, Kasey Chambers, Lyle Lovett, Old Crows, Avett Brothers, and last but not least locals like Lee Miles, who is just an incredible lyricist, or The Trainhoppers who rock me big time!
Here's a sample of Michael Patterson and I at the Wooden Nickel Debut of my CD, Dark Hearts & Simple Treasures
Sounds Like
I've been told I have a "Joni Mitchell" sound, or am reminiscent of "Joan Baez." . I've also been told I sound a lot like Denean. A lot of the songs I write sound a lot like early Kasey Chambers' tunes, whose music I really like. I cover a lot of Dylan and have a folksy sound. I think who I sound like depends on what song I am singing!
Here's a blurb from friend and musician, Michael Patterson. He is doing a lot of acoustic work right now, and he often sits in and sings with me, as well as teaching several students on bass and other instruments. Check out his website at: www.yanmmusic.com:

"-- Cathy Serrano's album of Native American flute music is absolutely beautiful. Cathy is a great champion of the Fort Wayne area's musicians and a wonderful singer/storyteller in the best tradition. She's got an incredible listing of great musicians on her site. Check out any of them and I guarantee you won't be disappointed. Oh, by the way, she's one of the best live performers you'll hear around because she really cares about reaching her audience. By the way, take time to check out her blog sometimes. There's an occasional comment that you might take to heart when it comes to supporting good music in your area."
And..... from John Williams: "Cathy is at her heart and soul, a folk singer in the style of Joan Baez. Her original music reflects that heart."
