Who I'd like to meet: The award-winning smash hit production of Tennessee Williams’s Cat On A Hot Tin Roof, which enjoyed a sell out run on Broadway last year with an all black cast, will open in London’s West End this winter. As on Broadway, the cast will be headed by Tony Award winners James Earl Jones as Big Daddy and Phylicia Rashad as Big Mama. Joining them will be Olivier Award winner Adrian Lester as Brick and Tony Award nominee Sanaa Lathan as Maggie. Renowned Emmy and Golden Globe winning director, actor and choreographer and two-time Tony Award nominee Debbie Allen is set to direct.
Cat On A Hot Tin Roof will begin performances at the Novello Theatre on 21 November, and open on Tuesday 1 December. The limited season will finish on Saturday 10 April 2010. Performances will be Monday – Saturday at 7.30pm, with matinees on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 2.30pm. Tickets, priced from £10.00 - £49.50, are available from the Novello Theatre Box Office on 0844 482 5170 or by visiting www.catwestend.com or www.delfontmackintosh.co.uk.
"Ticklin' The Strings" by Sweet Hollywaiians
Amazing Japanese hot string band playing 1920's, 30's, 40's style hawaiian, swing, calypso, blues, italian music and originals, featuring vintage instruments.3 songs with Robert Armstrong and Tony Marcus(from Robert Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders)
"The Sweet Hollywaiians have probably the best feel for this 20's music of any string band working today. They manage the rare feat of sounding relaxed even when their playing is hot, are top notch musicians with tasteful arrangements and a full, rich, warm sound.Plus, they have a nice gamut of tunes, from King Nawahi to Giovanni Vicari to Bobby Leecan. See them live, if you can, for an unforgettable experience. If you can't, buy their Cds!" ~ Terry Zwigoff
