6 Powerpoints - Fugitive ‘In Transit’ : A credible slice of hard rock. Souds like- Tyketto, Danger Danger, bands of that ilk. – The album opener ‘Wings’ is pure Tyketto (there’s a clue in the name). The band have real potential. Guitarist Ranko is a tidy player and delivers some tasty solos. The track ‘Behind Closed Eyes’ is an absolute belter of a song.

Review of FUGITIVE album IN TRANSIT
Fugitive started out in November 1990 writing original songs with an eye to keep the ‘original British rock band’ alive. They wanted to stay true to form and never go down the road of cover bands. The album titled ‘In Transit’ is in homage to the many miles they have travelled in the back of a trusty Transit van. It is full of decent guitar licks, powerful and confident vocals that are carried along by melodies that you can glide along on and demonstrates the flexibility of the band.
Their influences include all the good 80’s rock bands such as: Rainbow, Whitesnake, Maiden, Motley Crue, WASP and Kiss to name a few and is prevalent in all of the songs. ‘Wings’ immediately kicks in with a huge melody, showing the vocal range in full, which leads into ‘This Aint Love’ which has a Whitesnake influx of drama with its deep guitars and raw vocals and is ironically reminiscent of the Snakes’ ‘is This Love’ with a sultriness seeping in. Changing the mood to a happy, party feel introduction; ‘Saturday Everyday’ slows to just vocals and rhythm guitar and emits a melancholic aura. The album seems to shift and concentrates on the topic of love with balladesque ‘Look Inside Your Heart’, ‘Janie’ and ‘Behind Clsoed Eyes’. The latter portrays the sadness of a couple who are distant, under pressure and are on the breaking point. This has a very dramatic introduction that picks up and gets angrier for the chorus.
Moving along, ‘Friday 13th’ starts on a darker note with a psychedelic sound which reverberates from one ear to the other. The track then licks in with a mystical and fantastical melody. The vocals that follow are very Maiden-esque in style, wit hthe whole track close to the style of ‘Stranger in a Strange Land’. ‘Alive’ which is the penultimate track, has angry, rebellious quips and contains a line '‘shoving a job up your ass’ which made me chuckle as it is said in a very British manner, while ’Party’ finishes the album off on a jolly high note with a blinding solo midway through.
