In first approaching Catsplash you’ll recognize the loveable, hard-working
Chicago band that loves to jaw and drink with fans, but their life on
stage runs the gamut of ferocious rock to jangly pop -- nine lives and
beyond blending into the one, solid union they call Catsplash!
Though cuddly, these cats are no fledglings to the Chicago scene having
romped at coveted venues such as Schubas, Martyrs, Beat Kitchen and The
Abbey, and even purring stripped-down, semi-acoustic versions of their
tunes at the famed Chicago coffee house, Uncommon Ground, where the late
Jeff Buckley used to rock. No matter what size or type of stage, Catsplash
can fill the room with their enthusiasm and love for music.
But don’t be fooled by the clever hooks or harmonies. The melodic music of
Catsplash reflects the many facets of life and love with the inspired
songwriting of John Luckhaupt. Led by vocalist/guitarist Luckhaupt (ex
Torben Floor and A Modern Joy) and supported by Clarissa Novales ..board/vocals, Bill Aldridge on bass and Tim Tully on drums, there is no
secret why these passionate musicians leave a lasting impression at the
end of every performance.
Catsplash is currently celebrating its brand new EP, Four Happiness,
which features this clever songwriting in the fierce snarl and warning of
"(Be Careful) What You Ask For;" the ringing pop-drive of "Always Be
Back;" the heart and soul of "Landslide;" and the yearning for a genuine
existence with a special acoustic version of "Milwaukee Summer."
