  • Bio

This record was self-produced following a couple of trips in 2007. I grabbed a lead guitarist and drummer, while I did the rest - including tracking, mixing, etc.... I wanted something retro and recorded largely live to tape with one mic, like it was done back in the 50's. The tracks were then dumped into the production facility which does the music for the Spongebob Squarepants tv series. What you're generally hearing on these tracks is three people cutting rhythm and lead guitars live with drums in a drapery warehouse in LA with 20' high ceilings. Bass, vocals and whatever else was necessary was overdubbed later by me. The title song, "Beyond The Grapevine," is a melody which literally landed in my head as I was driving the 99 in California in 2007. I'm a lawyer by trade, and I was assisting on a large Federal trial up in Fresno. I had to do the drive from LA-Fresno about five times over the course of two months in early-2007. As I was driving the San Joaquin Valley (which is what lies "beyond the "Grapevine" - the mountain range north of LA), this melody just hit me. I swear I channeled it from "beyond." This one was obviously Duane Eddy inspired (who also happens to be the greatest guitarist in rock history). The nine songs on this record are in the traditional, old west country/western vein.
