What IS the Catwalk Tragedy National Tour?!
Catwalk Tragedy is the definitive showcase for modern alternative beauty in all its forms, a different kind of beauty pageant for both men and women who bask in image as an art form as well as a way of life. No longer content hiding in the shadows these guys and gals strut their stuff center stage and rock the runway with fire and fury. The underground explodes into the spot light ready to demand credit and recognition in the fashion world which has always pretended to ignore them… while stealing their best ideas. This event has proven over and over that the world doesn't fear tattoos, piercings, blue or green hair in a Mohawk… it craves them. The world’s canvas is a prettier piece of art because of them.
So we invite you all to come out of your dance clubs, tattoo shops, skate parks, and virtual worlds and embrace the glitz and the glamour as the side show spectacle takes over the circus.
A night for all of us, where the norm is not the norm, a chance to not only be celebrated for being different but to take style and fashion to a new level.
Wether hipster, metal, goth, gay, punk, tattooed, or emo labels are incinerated when Tragedy hits the Catwalk.
The Break Down:
Catwalk Tragedy is: 3 "rounds" or runway walk-offs of professional and amateur local models/contestants competing to be Ms or Mr Catwalk Tragedy. Being named Ms/Mr Catwalk Tragedy is akin to being named the ULTIMATE Alternative model. Past winners and runners up are seen today modeling many products. **The winners also receive thousands of dollars in prizes from our sponsors.** prizes will be posted soon.
Catwalk Tragedy NYC 2009 Overview by Twilight Vision
Each of the first two rounds are sponsored by different alternative or high fashion clothing companies. each round has first a girl come out in the designer’s clothing then a guy then a girl and will alternate until there are only girls left. Only 40 contestants total are accepted per city.
The third round is designed purely for crowd response and entertainment. The judges will rate each contestant based on crowd response. This means that the more people in the audience cheering the local contestant on the better and the more creative the contestant’s performance the better. This means each contestant should be out promoting for people to come out to the event and support her/him.
The much anticipated 3rd round gives each contestant the chance to show off her/his personality, creativity, stage presence and attitude or sense of humor in 2 minutes OR LESS (overtime is grounds for disqualification and all performances must be PG). Round 3 will be held in two thirty minute sections.
There will be a meet and greet in each city the day of the show 2 hours before doors (invite or VIP ticket price – contestants and professionals only please).
Between round 3 and the announcement of the winners (one guy and one gal) a band plays a 20 minute set. Bands TBA.
The winner from each market will be flown to a grand finale. The plan is to have 2 ‘larger bands’ perform during the grand finale. Details TBD.
