Myspace Contact TablesLyrics Official Caustic Defiance Myspace Page. Caustic Defiance was born from the remnants of Negative Element in the early 1980s. After moving to Peoria from Chicago, the infamous Steppe bros found there was nothing happening in Peoria. They formed Caustic Defiance with Brad and Happy and began to create a hardcore punk scene in a wasteland of rednecks and farmers. At the time, many people in the scene were getting tired of hardcore and were dropping out. With Caustic Defiance it was just the opposite - influenced by DRI, they set out to play fast and generic punk. The music was created to lash out at the ignorance and prejudices they found themselves confronted with on a daily basis. Besides, they needed some new tunes to blast while they were skating. They recorded their demo "Enough Talk" in 1983 on Rubberneck Records. They also had four tracks appear on Bad Compilation Tapes 21 (KAAOS ZINE PRESENTS).
The group began putting on their own shows at local halls and brought in 7 Seconds for one of their first shows. They also played with Toxic Reasons, Die Kreuzen, 1096 and others. Caustic Defiance was a straight-edge band that was fueled on cokes and snickers (ie: JFA). Somehow, they found themselves one day on the front cover of the local newspaper, which was picked up by the Associated Press. And the rest is history... RIP 1985. Members moved on to play in Naked Hippy, Outbreaks, The Lechers and Damage Report. This is Old School hardcore punk - pure and simple! In 2009, Caustic Defiance released a split CD with Negative Element on the Akashic Blue Label from Japan. ..This profile was edited with Edit Your MySpace..<mspobj enableJSURL="false" enableHREF="false" s
