"Singer Chris Taylor has a booming voice, a flair for drama and the ability to set highbrow ideas (myth, philosophy, religion) to haunting melodies." -New York Newsday
"One listen of The Sun Revolutions and you will be as addicted to Cavalier King (a.k.a. Chris Taylor) as I am. Taylor, who moonlights as a painter, has created an impressive album of sonic works of grandeur. More, please."
-Abby White @ Performing Songwriter
"The Sun Revolutions, a concept album of sorts, brings Taylor’s battle with religious dogma, industry and mediocrity to the forefront with equal parts ego and optimism. A secular humanist, he boldly announces that "[he] don’t pray to virgin mothers," preferring to search for a new awareness; with turns alternately apologetic, apoplectic and existentially angsty—accompanied by a modern rock sound."
-Mike Dressel @ Altar Magazine
"...The Sun Revolutions, is full of lyrically poetic and heart-felt tracks. It seems apparent that Taylor’s influences lay heavily on the mystique of Jim Morrison, the tortured soul of Jeff Buckley, and the folk-rock easy listening crowd-pleasing of Van Morrison. Taylor deserves a lot of credit, as this album was recorded in his small Brooklyn studio, proving he is talented, creative and passionate enough to be able to churn out a solid album all by his lonesome.”

If you suddenly awoke to find that you were
the only creature left alive in the universe, what
would you do? Would you continue living?
Most of the goals people pursue in life – raising
children, business success, contributing to society,
military conquest – depend on the existence of other
people and organisms. But what could make life worth
living for a creature who was entirely alone in the
universe? What aims could possibly be worth pursuing?
Cavalier King confronted the harsh reality of these
questions after he wrathfully annihilated his entire
planet, and with it, all known life in the universe.
Not only had he wiped out his species, his family, and
his true love, but he irrevocably destroyed any
possibility for future relationships of any sort. He
longed desperately to turn back time, to reverse the
sequence of catastrophic events that had precipitated
his eternal isolation. Dying in the final blasts would
have been better than total solitude. Facing a
nightmare of meaninglessness, suicide seemed the
inescapable conclusion.
Peter DeScioli at the University of Pennsylvania asserts:
"Superhero lore is careful to distinguish moralistic punishment from vigilante revenge; the latter is unbecoming of a superhero. This contrasts with war heroes, who are praised for wrath, rage, and vengeance. For example, Cúchulainn of Irish mythology is known for his ecstatic fits of unbridled fury in which he massacres friends and foes alike. Particularly legendary is the vengeful rage of Achilles, who dragged Hector’s dead body behind a chariot for thirteen days. For superheroes, such displays are beyond the pale."
We know that Cavalier King destroyed his home planet out of "unbridled fury", but there are those who contend that he was actually able to suppress those reckless, vengeful emotions when he landed here on earth. We find that hard to believe, given the catastrophic results of his seemingly altruistic endeavors. But we do acknowledge his ability to galvanize the masses to at least earnestly desire peaceful reconciliation, however wrong it all may have gone.
