自我介紹

關於我:

I was brought up in the beautiful countryside of Devon, England. In time, I married and together with my husband raised three children in the next county down, Cornwall. We loved the sea and built our own boats starting with a dinghy and ending up with a 32' sailing sloop. Sailed the English Channel, holidaying as a family in various ports in Brittany, the Bay of Biscay and the Channel Islands. Migrated to Australia. Now, retired from business affairs and the family expanded to include six grandchildren, I have the time to spend on writing.

Randall Radic reviews Carol Sutton's And the Devil Laughed

我想認識:

HANNAH FORD, an under-cover cop, takes a surveillance job in Draper’s Wharf. The small town on the banks of the Parramatta River in Australia has links to the drug trade, so the latest whisper goes. Her brief: to observe, report, and locate its source. When she arrives, the town is in shock after the rape and murder of its local barmaid. Hannah, a rape survivor, could pull out, but she needs this job to prove her competence to return to the streets and full duties. Threaded through the main story, is Hannah’s own account of guilt and rage born of her husband’s death, her rape and degradation that followed. In working to find the source of drugs in Draper’s Wharf, the line between her case and the murder enquiry is fading fast. Can she hack it, or is her worst nightmare about to be re-enacted, as she becomes their next target. (Short listed for the Genre Fiction Award by New Holland Publisher 2007)

    Hi Betty,

Thank you so much for my bowl of roses -- yes 71 today -- how the days fly past. I popped into to view your web again, I have been a bit slack recently on this site as I've had so many others to deal with. Goodreads is a good site for authors and I have been active there. I hope your books are doing you proud. My Ferryman is out and selling slowly, but regularly at the moment.

    Cheers

    Hi Carole,
    Happy New Year.
I checked and saw your message re a new blog about Ferryman (it came on 28th I think). My Space is the last site I go to because I usually get thrown off the internet when I go between friends sites here, so haven't been here for a few day. Haven't been on line much at all over the holidays. Going to Sydney for a couple of days so i won't be around.
Your new -look site is catchy. I like it. I see you have one widget. Maybe you have to re do that plug in you told me about before, and then the 2nd one might come back. I wish you luck.
Hope you are happy with your feature (Ferryman) in Calamity's Corner this month. I don't mind if you forward the newsletter to friends.

    Hi Esmaa,
thanks for the chipmunks. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a great New Year. At the moment I'm up to my eyes trying to update my webs with the news of Ferryman's launch.

    Merry Christmas!

    Hello Carole,
I'm afraid i can't see your widgets. The emu one isn't there and your Ferryman one loads to 79% but goes no further.
You might need to call Son#2 again :)

I love elephants. Collecting them isn't such a great idea!!...I have a few boxes of them stored as they are dust collectors. I do have quite a few around the house...and garden.

    Hi Carole,

I'm still polishing while I start marketing. I've had my first rejection though. I guess that's a milestone.

I'm recovering from my 2 week stay in hospital; back to writing and critiquing. Although I don't have any results, the doctor assures me that it's a good thing. Non-urgency means there is nothing to worry about. It takes a while to get over the proceedures, poking and prying, and lack of exercise though.

    Have a great week.

    Hi Carole,
I'm excited to see your book cover too. I want it for Calamity's Corner. There are 3 others who will be in that feature with you.

I wasn't asked for a synopsis. I guess the 250 word excerpt will tell them more about my writing than a page that might cramp my style (pun intended :)). However some people are asked for the 1st 3 chapters so 250 words is very little to go on. I don't know if I chose the best example but it did seem appropriate at the time. I sent it last Thursday so there's only another week to wait. They said they'd reply in 2 weeks. I'm holding my breath.

    Thanks for your uplifting comment.

No I haven't written the next chapter because I've been sweating over a query letter. It isn't easy to convince a publisher of your book's quality in only one paragraph (4 or 5 sentences). I was able to send a 250 word excerpt, though - I took something from ch.22. Also I didn't like my opening so have been sweating over that, too. It's better now.

    Thanks for your interest.

Can't wait for your novel, FERRYMAN, to be in print before Christmas.
You must be over the moon about that!

    Hello Carole,
    Good to 'meet' you too.
Wishing you all the very best with your writing,

Woo hooo! I can see slide shows!* Houdini is a cutie!

*The issue turned out to be with security software rather than Firefox.
  • 2008/9/23 00:40

Well... I finally got a few minutes with the resident computer expert (Wonderhubby). I'd gone ahead and updated Firefox myself, but that didn't solve my no-can-see issue with regards to slide shows. He spent about an hour looking for the cause of this problem and he can't solve it either. So. Maybe we need that URL after all.

    Thanks for the help!
  • 2008/9/18 11:53

About your slideshows: I wonder if you use Firefox. I can't see my slideshows in Firefox, but can in Internet Exploder, er, Explorer. I can't see yours, either, with Firefox, but can with IE.

Maybe we both need to update our Firefox, eh?
  • 2008/9/18 04:17

Interesting that Lucky (in installment 2) wouldn't eat by himself.
  • 2008/9/17 08:18

Carole what does the slide look like to you.
Is it black with words on the top like track; comment; share;x
if so hit that x ( in the rt hand top corner and the slides should appear.
  • 2008/9/17 06:10

That is peculiar that it doesn't work fo ryou. Try going to my page - comments -- and clicking on your picture next to your last comment and see if slides come up then when you return to your site.
  • 2008/9/17 02:31

How wonderful to see you Slide Shows working again. Both of them! I jusy clicked on your profile and they were already working. I didn't even have to load them.
Clever you! What did you you do?
    :) :) :)

I guess you could wait a day or two and then if it isn't right you could delete and add it again.

    Good luck with your MS.

    Hi Carole,
Your Emu slideshow is working well. Takes a little time to load for me. The other slide isn't working, though.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It sounds like your brother was a very loving and unselfish man. I pray that his family will always cherish that extra time they had together.
    Hugs!!! Carol
