CC Martini
All The Way!
Shock
From the opening track on this album, CC Martini is out to grab your attention. Whether it be with her impressive vocal dexterity or her shock value, Martini's bound to be noticed. She jumps from singing in a candy-sweet voice with little hints of sexual innuendo in Double Dutch, to downright sassy and dirty in the aptly titled Dirty Thoughts. Every song that follows is an impressive blend of rock, pop and hip-hop with lyrics that cause you to either grin manically or cringe from their brutal honesty.
Rack It Up is a song about overcoming cocaine addiction, Martini using catchy beats and clever lyrics to portray the sly methods drug dealers use in order to hook someone, and the horrible consequences of addiction. Another fantastic tune is Little Black Book, in which she finds her lover's little black book and finds out that he's been cheating. Her lyrics are brilliant and the use of strings add that little something extra to it. Finally, the best track would have to be Sick Of It, a great rock/ pop tune that deals with men who don't treat women the way they deserve.
It would be easy to go on forever about each song individually, because each one has a different little quirk that makes it special, and all the lyrics are thought-provoking and deal with every day situations, which make Martini's music easy to relate to. Martini is Australia's version of Lady Sovereign, with the same "don't give a damn" attitude but without the ego. Even if you have never been a fan of hip-hop, this album might just change your mind. Brilliant lyrics, fun upbeat music, and a fantastic voice all add up to a killer album that is very easy to love.

"I was very surprised by this album. Not a bad song on it and plenty of variety. Crunchy hip hop guitar pop and beautiful ballads with a bit of electro thrown in for good measure. Lyrics with plenty of attitude and humour, with heart and soul. There's no one else like her at the moment. I love it." - winnierider. iTunes review

And with lines like. “Ya’ll should vote for Hilary, Because it’s time the man became a she” over minimal, crunchy beats, this Bush basher is primed to be a dance floor thrasher.” – Bronwyn Thompson - RollingStone 3.5 stars
