CounterClockwise Band from Abilene, Texas, plays classic rock and pop tunes, plus some “boot-scootin” country. We are a fun band with a great sense of the music that makes people want to get up and dance. Each member brings a lot of talent and experience to the band.
Cecil Tijerina plays drums and percussion for the band. He is a veteran drummer who has opened for such bands as Foghat, The Outlaws, Ian Moore, Chris Duarte, Gary Richrath (REO Speedwagon), Omar & the Howlers, WC Clark, Bugs Henderson, Junior Medlow, Mark Farner (Grand Funk Railroad), Arc Angels, Doyle Bramhall, Double Trouble, and Classic Rock All Stars (Dennis Noda, Jerry Corbetta--Sugarloaf, Pete Rivera--Rare Earth, and Mike Pinera--Blues Image, Iron Butterfly, and Alice Cooper). Cecil also currently plays with the worship band at The Mission.
Stan Chapman plays bass guitar and sings vocal backups. During the ‘70’s, Stan toured the southwestern United States with Uncle Remus and Woodrose, popular regional bands of the time. Most recently, Stan uses his talent to lead worship, playing at both Beltway Park Baptist Church and First Christian Church, as well as events for the Walk to Emmaus Community.
David Laurence plays guitar and shares lead vocals. He has performed with rock and roll, country, and contemporary Christian bands and once opened for notable Grammy Award-winning country artist Steve Wariner. He has been a contemporary worship leader at First Baptist and First Christian churches as well as the local Emmaus Community, and currently leads worship at The Mission.
Keyboard player Chris Cummings studied piano for ten years and put his talent and skills to work in 1998 when he began playing keyboards for Twelve Stones at First Baptist Church. He has also been a member on several music teams for Walk to Emmaus events. For the past five years, Chris has played keyboards at The Mission. He has a passion for old organs and keyboards, like the Hammond B3 and Fender Rhodes, which are an important part of the music CounterClockwise performs.
Shanda Tijerina is a lead vocalist for the band. She began her singing career in 1992 when she toured England, Ireland, Scotland, Canada, Mexico, and the United States with the well-known Continental Singers.
