CDR is the platform for the airing of new ideas, works in progress, unreleased songs, remixes and edits in a sound-system oriented environment.
Created on laptops, bedroom studios, sampling sequencers and digital multi-tracks, music producers can at last air their productions in a neutral space to a like-minded audience.
Firmly established and Plastic People in London, known for its fine sound system, CDR now continues its quest in Berlin at Tape Club which is now also equipped with a fine Funktion One soundsystem.
WHAT IS THE BACKGROUND?
CDR is the brainchild of Tony Nwachukwu, a prolific musician, producer and DJ. His idea is to create and develop a new music scene, which operates outside record company structures, by sharing experiences, demystifying technology, and broadening horizons beyond playlists and charts. The berlin edition of CDR is organised with the help of Dirk Rumpff who is known for his OFFtrack radioshow, his production under the Season moniker as well as his activities as a DJ and journalist.
CDR’S AIMS & OBJECTIVES
• Encourage artist and audience interactivity.
• Performed dj sets of unreleased recordings, edits and mixes.
• Create a platform for an artistic exchange of ideas and energies between the music-making community and burntprogress.
• Music-makers to create and contribute tracks, which are played within an improvised set, during ‘Open CDR’.
• Ultimately, to connect music-makers and enthusiasts, not just in different cities but also different countries.
