    Du démoniaque à visage humain

    Produit sur le label industriel Dirter, l’album Fiends with a Face
    réunit idéalement deux activistes de la scène alternative aux univers
    parallèles voire télescopés. Chanteur et guitariste, James Johnston
    émerge sur la scène musicale londonienne en 1990 avec Gallon Dunk. Le
    groupe est rapidement connu pour ses prestations live. Au printemps
    1994, il est approché par Nick Cave pour devenir guitariste des Bad
    Seeds à l’occasion du Lollapalooza. Depuis, il collabore avec Faust,
    Lydia Lunch, Ulan Bator. Le Français Philippe Petit, quant à lui,
    défriche depuis 25 ans les expérimentations sonores de tous horizons en
    tant que producteur (Bip_Hop, Pandemonium) ou musicien (solo – Henry,
    the Iron Man - ou en collaboration - SOC, Philippe Petit & Friends,
    w/ Lydia Lunch). À l’occasion de la sortie de leur opus, ce dernier a
    accepté de répondre à quelques questions sur la génèse d’un projet
    passionnant que l’on assimilerait volontiers à une hypothétique
    bande-son lynchienne, hommage aux séries B d’horreur, dans la veine de
    NON ou Throbbing Gristle...

    FUJAKO came out of the clash of Jonathan Uliel Saldanha and Nyko Esterle,
    two producers obsessed with echo and bass. The first one, raised in Portugal
    and part of the collectives Soopa and Mécanosphère, deals with sonic alchemy,
    and is also known as HHY. The second one, raised in France, part of the Radon
    collective and a rider of the sound waves, is also known as Ripit.
    Both met to summon music of unlooped hip-hop, filled with spectres of haunting dub
    and ecstatic scapes.

    LANDFORM, their first record (out on Wordsound Digital) was born in a small stone
    house studio in the burnt forests and mountains of Portugal, between paradise
    and the gate of hell, made from soundscapes and beats recorded on mostly acoustic
    instruments, created in an hostile -yet natural- environment. After the initial
    production phase in the woods, LANDFORM was then haunted by the voices of several
    guests such as Sensational, Seraphim, Native, Cheravif and Scalper, as well as by
    the additional trash turntablism of DJ Urine.
