Bio
"The Edmonton born singer-songwriter has the uncanny ability to spark a connection between himself and some of the greatest musicians of all time!" boasts Exclaim! magazine about Cory Woodward. And since emerging onto the Vancouver music scene he has done nothing but prove this statement to be true. A featured songwriter at the Vancouver Folk Festival in 2008, the performer took his "beautifully crafted" (Vancouver Sun) debut EP, 'Princess of the Skies', on tour dates across Canada, Europe and the U.S. His cover of Sam Cooke's 'Nobody Knows The Trouble I've Seen' was featured in the Val Kilmer movie 'The Thaw', as well as his original song 'Remedy Girl' was featured on an episode of 'Degrassi The Next Generation'. Woodward appeared on Light Organ Record's 'Our First Christmas' featuring an original Christmas song 'Love Will Grow'. He has also written and produced 'Tiny Light', a theme song for the Tiny Light Foundation, a non profit organization that provides professional photography for children and families that have been faced with a life altering diagnoses. Now, Cory Woodward is excited to unveil his new full length album 'The Truth' to music fans around the world. "The Truth is a collection of songs that are a detailed expression of my world during a time of major transition. They are songs written from personal experience, they're cries for help, a longing for change of oneself and the world, all spawned from years of battling depression and addiction on numerous fronts" explains Woodward. On 'The Truth', Woodward has brought together much of the local music community, joined by Vancouver artists Adaline, Nat Jay, Debra Jean and Carly Rae Jepsen. Produced by Vancouver native Matthew Rogers (Adrian Glynn,Twilight Hotel) and mixed by Shawn Cole (Yukon Blonde, Bend Sinister), the result is a collection of eleven highly energized rock songs. With 'The Truth' being released August 7th 2012, Woodward is set to take passion to new heights in the year to come. "Music is a gift in life and one I have made my mission to deliver!" -
