Just a few words to encompass the multi-talented entertainer and Internationally supreme recording artist CeCe Peniston. When her first single ever was released in 1991 on A&M Records, she was immediately thrust into the music industry worldwide and CeCe has continued with success ever since.
CeCe Peniston's first single "Finally", achieved Billboard 1 chart status and has sold multi-platinum world-wide, in addition to being featured on more than thirty compilation albums. CeCe thrust passed the one-hit wonder mark with achieving an additional 13 Billboard Top Ten chart status singles. CeCe has released 3 additional albums including her sophomore album "Thought ya Knew", "I'm Movin' On" and her “Greatest Hits” album released in 2001.
CeCe made nine music videos, contributed her voice to numerous motion picture box-office hit soundtracks (“The Associate“ and “Pret a Porte“),and graciously allowed the Oprah Winfrey Show to utilize two of her hits on request. CeCe has performed live at half time shows and sang the National Anthem for the NBA, WNBA, and NFL, appeared in thousands of publications, loaned her hit single "Finally" to the Summer Olympics 2000 Closing Ceremony in Australia and made numerous guest appearances on several television shows.
In addition to Aretha Franklin's personal request to perform at Aretha's private birthday party in Detroit, CeCe has had the distinction to perform at The Vatican and to be historically the first female entertainer to visit and perform in South Africa after the abolition of apartheid. Former President Bill Clinton invited CeCe to perform at both of his Presidential Inauguration Ceremonies in Washington, D.C. and by Mrs. Hillary Clinton for her political achievement.
CeCe successfully toured with Grace Jones, Peabo Bryson, Tasha Scott & Tony Terry in The WIZ throughout the U.S.
In the midst of such overwhelming success, CeCe has also been bestowed numerous awards including: Billboard Best New Artist & Best New Song of The Year, ASCAP Song of The Year & Pop Songwriter of The Year & Most Performed Song of The Year, Annual Winter Music Conference's Best New Dance Artist & Best Dance Artist Solo & Best 12" Dance Record, BMI Urban Award of Achievement, Governor's Key to The State of Arizona for being a role model and for achievement. CeCe was inducted into the Phoenix College Hall of Fame.
One of CeCe's true passions is charity and giving back to the community so she founded the CeCe Peniston Foundation in 1997 and helped to raise funds for other organizations
In 2005, CeCe starred as Pamela Matthews in the Maverick Entertainment independent film “Don't Touch If You Ain't Prayed“, as well as taking a small role in another independent film, “Pastor Jones“.
On November 3, 2008 CEO Byron Garrett announced that CeCe would become The National PTA’s newest Ambassador along with Dara Torres. In her new role as a National Ambassador, CeCe recorded the National PTA anthem "Above Horizons" and will join millions of parents and educators to work toward improving the lives of children.
CeCe has been taking dance classes as well as acting lessons to sharpen her technique. CeCe is finishing up her latest project which promises to be 1 of the hottest and most anticipated albums of 2009. CeCe collaborated with hot producers such as “Track Kingz West”, Vudu, Status, David Givens, Montell Jordan, Mateo, Isalene Elliot and Aaron-Carl. CeCe is sounding strong and looking stunning. This project will deliver everything that her generations of fans want and have come to expect “Timeless Music”.
CeCe Peniston is still making her mark on the world. While having established herself as one of the paramount artists of the nineties and the new century, CeCe still has stayed true to herself and humble while fueling the deep passion for her artistry.
