Tzvetelin Atanassov – ELVIS/SINGER, TV HOST, ELVIS IMPERSONATOR
(b. 18.08.1971), known also as the Bulgarian Elvis, begins his musical career in 1990 when he is hardly 18 years old. His professional appearance is induced by his love to the music of the King of rock .
In 1992 he wins the most prestigious competition for young talents in Bulgaria held by the Bulgarian National Television. Immediately after that he releases an album with covers of some of the King’s songs, named “ A Memory of Elvis”, which is great success among the Bulgarian audience.
In 1993 his child’s dream becomes true when he is invited by the Graceland Division of Elvis Presley Enterprises to take part in a competition for impersonators of Elvis, held each year in Memphis, Tennessee. Tzvetelin impresses everybody with his talent and becomes the winner in the category “The best young impersonator of Elvis”.
Being a winner in the competition he is invited as a special guest in the famous morning TV show “Good morning America”.
He becomes an Honorary citizen of Tupelo, Mississippi – the birthplace of Elvis. The Mayor Jack Marshal personally awards him with a diplomaat a ceremony in the Municipality of Tupelo on August 17, 1993.
He is the founder and President of the official Bulgarian fen club of Elvis “Don’t be cruel to Elvis”, registered in 1993 in Graceland under No. 403.
His biography is included in the British encyclopedia “Who is who in Music “ (volume two) issued in Cambridge in 1996.
In 1997 the Italian film company “Alia film” use his songs from the album “A memory of Elvis” for their film “Crudite” distributed all over the world.
From 1995 till 2001 he lives and work in the USA. He is selected at a casting among 40 candidates for a vocal of the American band “New Memphis Mafia”. They play together in the best clubs on the East coast – in New York, Miami, New Jersey.
Tzvetelin Atanassov is the only Bulgarian who has participated in Tv commmersial for MTV- North America in NY with some of the best impersonators of Elvis in the world. In 1996 he is invited by MTV - North America, a leader in the music business for making an advertising video spot on occasion of opening the new TV channel MTV 2.
In 1997 he received a thank-you letter from the White House, signed personally by the then President of the United States Bill Clinton, in which the President thanked him for his contribution to the Bulgarian-American cultural relations.
He is a member of the Musical Academy “Grammy” since 1999.
In 2000 became the only Bulgarian who has given an exclusive interview on the first page of the most circulated newspaper in Florida “Miami Herald” titled “ Bulgarian carries on legend of Elvis ” .
In 2001 after six years in America he returned back to Bulgaria and started to work on his own songs. In 2004 he received an invitation to become a host of the new youth TV show “Turbo league” on one of the most watched Bulgarian TV channels – New Television. The show was more than successful and made Tzvetelin a real star in his country.
Since 2005 he is working on the new music project “The New Retro” together with oneof the best musicians and DJ-s in Bulgaria- Deep Zone Project. In this project they express their own original idea of how Elvis could sound if he was alive in this days. The first singal of this project,thesong - “I challenge you” becomme the first bulgarian song,helded the 2 place in the MTV Europe “World chart express”, aftrer beeng for long time number one in the Bulgarian music charts.
Today Tzvetelin Atanassov - ELVIS is one of the biggest stars in the Bulgarian showbusiness and one of the best Elvis impersonators in the world. With very succsessful carrier and number one hits,he still perform as an Elvis impersonator,doing special shows in the summer in the best Bulgarian Black sea resorts.
