The Celebrity Fest Concert Series was founded on the principle that high-quality live entertainment should be accessible, affordable, and enjoyable—plain and simple.
Under the mission of providing the very best in live Reggae music performance to diverse audiences around the world at reasonable prices, Celebrity Fest is the next level in live music presentation, setting a whole new standard of professionalism and excellence.
Guided by internationally known Reggae/Dancehall music publicist Shilo Evans, CEO of the popular internet magazine CelebrityPlus.net, and founder of Til Shilo Promotions, Shilo’s vision was to create an entity to meet the rising demand for live Caribbean music entertainment in various cities and around the globe, as well as to expose Caribbean artists to new worldwide audiences.
In addition, she wanted to create a reputable space to showcase rising Reggae/Dancehall music artists. A central part of this vision was to finally produce a stage show (concert) that catered to the needs of the paying patrons—one that was affordable, comfortable, and respecting and appreciative of their time and commitment.
On October 28, 2006, Celebrity Fest Part I was held in Orlando—an area that had long been demanding a high-quality Reggae concert. Celebrity Fest Part I featured live performances and appearances by renown actor and singer Ky-Mani Marley, son of Reggae legend Bob Marley; critically acclaimed roots Reggae crooner I-Wayne, whose 2004 single “Can’t Satisfy Her” rose to the top half of the Billboard Top 100 singles, and enjoyed regular rotation on pop music television stations like MTV and BET; and International Reggae and World Music Award winner Gyptian, whose first single “Serious Times” surpassed Sean Paul’s “We Be Burnin” and Damian Marley’s “Welcome to Jamrock” to become Jamaica’s Most Important song of 2005; in addition to roots artists Bascom X, Guidance, Fire Star, Ky-Enie, popular dancer Flava, and rising star Keisha Martin.
Commended for excellent customer service, efficiency, and quality, Celebrity Fest Part I was hailed as one of the best shows the Orlando area has ever seen.
Richard Sankar of DV8 Magazine wrote that:
“…Overall, this show was a blessing for Orlando (the Disney place where reggae is starting to be scarce) and worth seeing as many true reggae fans are eagerly waiting to see when Part II will happen. Big ups to Shilo for promoting an excellent show in Mickey Mouse land. Grade: CRUNK”
While music journalist Odette Flemming wrote:
“This event wasn't just a show, it was a day. The fans first had an opportunity to meet and greet and take photos with the artists at an autograph signing held at Dolly's One Stop, a local music and clothing store. Fans, who had flown and driven in from as far as Los Angeles and Kansas City to be a part of this historic event, were able to talk with their favorite artists face-to-face in an intimate, old camp environment. Catch Ky-Mani Marley next to the refrigerated roots drinks, see I-Wayne signing photos next the CD rack, wait, a nuh Gyptian dat under the Rocawear tees. No bodyguards and big tables separating them, just a cool vibe and a grateful public. Later the buzz was increasing as the word started to spread around Orlando that all of the artists were indeed in the building. From radio stations to local restaurants the down to earth caravan moved as a unit through the town.”
Validated in the necessity for high-quality live Caribbean music presentation, and with Celebrity Fest Part II in the making, the Celebrity Fest Concert Series is poised to be a leader in providing accessible, affordable, and enjoyable live Reggae performances to diverse audiences around the world; breaking new ground in the way Reggae music and culture is packaged and presented—plain and simple.
