I love to read. I enjoy all kinds of movies. I love to camp and fish and be outdoors. I like kids and spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy partying and having fun with people I care about, creating new memories together. I am head over heels in love with the beach. I like to get out there and meet people, and to share new experiences with others.
I am a movie lover. I see film as a form of art, and I watch a movie with the same open-mindedness I would take to any artistic display. I don't like listening to movie-haters, who set themselves up for disappointment by mentally hyping every single movie they see. If you expect every movie to knock your socks off, you won't enjoy any movies when they fail to have that impact. Just take the movie for what it is, and enjoy it! A movie has to be very poor for me to have a bad time watching it.
Television
I have a love-hate relationship with television. I hate the news, the propaganda, the negativity and fear-mongering. I hate the exploitative reality TV and gameshows. I hate commercials, I hate MTV, and I hate the fact that America became so easily addicted to this outlet, and then allowed big business to dictate what appears on it. Corporate America isn't interested in quality programming, only in generating capital.
On the other hand, I sometimes find shows that I enjoy. I'll watch them streaming or on DVD. Some of these are:
Dexter, Weeds, The Brotherhood, Entourage, Californication, Arrested Development, Lost, BattleStar Galactica, Heroes, Monk, Chuck, and a few others.
Most people watch more TV in one night than I do in a week. Some people reach for the TV when they're bored, but I generally find better things to do.
Books
Symphony of the Ages by Elizabeth Haydon. Piers Anthony, Mercedes Lackey, Orson Scott Card. I have a lot of favorite authors. Terry Goodkind, LE Modessitt Jr, Sarah Douglass, Vonnegut, Tom Robbins... Countless books and authors. I find that eccentric writing styles add flavor to dying genres.
Heroes
Anyone with a kind soul who can live and die for the sake of another. Those who push through hardship and remember what's important. My friends, who bring me such joy and embody all that I love in life.
About me:
Let the past be a point of reference, not a place of residence. I'm the youngest of five children. I moved around a lot as a kid, but settled down in Tampa, Florida in 1997. I like kids, I can't sit in the car without the stereo on. I like the feeling you get after working hard all day. I enjoy bundling up in the dark and watching a good movie, or reading a clever book. I'm into hiking, bicycling, the beach, and anything fun. My friends and family don't just mean the world to me; they are my world. There is nothing I wouldn't do for someone who I call "friend." When I call someone a friend, I mean it. I am a Deist; I believe in and honor God, but do not believe in the necessity of organized religion.
Who I'd like to meet: There are a lot of people I'd like to meet. I don't have special love for celebrities, really. I wish to meet good people in unexpected places. I like finding enjoyable conversation with someone I've just met. That's the kind of encounter I wish for. Stumbling upon cool people can make my night. Most celebrities I want to meet are comedians or musicians who I'd want hang out with, or favorite authors.
I can wait for the packing... ugh! But I can't wait to be roomies! So, we have to be out the 30th of April... can I move in that day instead of the 1st?
