As a Cellist, Ivan Hussey has played on over 100 albums including more than 10 top 20 hits and at least 5 number one UK & US chart successes for artists such as Mick Jagger, Gabrielle, Take That, The Lighthouse Family, Soul II Soul, Incognito, Maxi Priest and Lynden David Hall as well as live work with Duran Duran, Smoke City, The Lighthouse Family and The Reggae Philharmonic Orchestra.
The Celloman project began in 2001 with the release of the debut album ‘Aquador’. Since then the band have released the 2nd album ‘Maya’, a live album ‘It’s all an illusion’ and have just released the 3rd Studio album ‘Sharptown’ in the UK in April 2009.
The Celloman band has performed extensively around the UK including most of the big festivals such as Glastonbury and Womad. They have performed in Serbia twice and done a series of gigs in Spain. In 2005 Cellist Ivan Hussey was invited to perform a solo show at the International Cello Festival in Belgrade. Together the band has gained a fine reputation for both their CD’s and Live shows. The sound has proven to be quite Unique. A blend of Middle Eastern and African rhythms, Eastern and Western classically inspired melodies, hypnotic harmonies and driving funky Bass & Drums.
“His 80-minute set blended jazz, world and classical musics in a strikingly natural way…Celloman is Champ”. - Evening standard
‘… but the star is Hussey's Cello, proof that the instrument can be surprising, sensuous and funky - all at the same time.’ – The Observer
‘The band were tight, and the playing superb. To die for!’ - Festivals UK, Trowbridge village pump festival

Hey Ivan, Really enjoyed the Leicester gig this evening! Just realised that it's been 5 years since I last saw you guys play (in Northampton), so the last time you played at the Y Theatre was even before that! Thanks for taking the time to sign the new album - listening to it now :) Keep up the great work James
