CELLO&VOICE
“Cello & Voice” is a project which evolved from my will to play the cello in an unprecedented and original way. I believe the perspective of only sitting with the instrument before a musical sheet and reproduce a technique, without creating, without inventing new lines and functions for the cello is one of the past. This work also came from the search for a voice, a singing which could blend to the cello sound, singing that for many years I have looked for in other singers, but against all my shyness, finally came up from myself.
As a teenager, I constantly listened to singers who sang accompanying themselves with the guitar and I always wondered why cellists didn’t do the same. The answers are always the same: “the cello is a solo instrument, a melody instrument,” or “the cello is classical music instrument, not a popular one.” Despite the obstacles and challenges, my will and the call to create something new succeeded. Some of this work is registered on the “Cello & Voice - I Can Fly” album, and also on the Cello & Voice show in arrangements for selected songs for voice and cello and in songs of my own.
