Recently a trade magazine sat down with Kevin Payne, of Celsius. Here is the interview:
Q: How did the band Celsius form?
A: We always had the ability to play live Hip-Hop music, but I saw opportunities in rock music and I convinced Jarv (lead singer) to play both. The one thing the two of us had in common was the love of the Hall of Fame band The Police.
Q: So it finally happened. What was it like to see The Police in person?
A: Can you imagine? The person that I have always admired and looked up to was right there in front of me. Stewart Copeland is the best drummer I ever seen. To be right there watching him is an experience I'll never forget.
Q: Critics refer to your show at Penuichies being your strongest. What made that particular show so good?
A: It was a Sunday night in September. The Dallas Cowboys and the Chicago Bears were playing. Jarv (lead singer) opened up with the national anthem and we were off and running from there. The set list was perfect and we destroyed every song.
Q: What is your best performance on Triple Crown?
A: The 4th song on our C.D. is called "She Made It". That was my personal best performance on the disk. I felt comfortable with the structure and was able to stay on top of it throughout the whole number.
Q: What song do you believe is Jarv Jackson's best of the C.D.?
A: When it was time to record the album, Jarv was ready to go. "Want me to go" is the first song on Triple Crown and Jarv had that look in his eye and didn't miss a note.
Q: What song as a whole did Celsius play best in?
A: Track 10 Stranger part 2 is vintage Celsius. When the crowd has a few drinks they get up and dance to that one.
Q: Since you have a passion for both Rock, and Hip-Hop, what is next after releasing Triple Crown, a very good C.D. I might add.
A: This band has an alter ego that we can't control. Hip-Hop is in our blood so David Banner is our Celsius, C-4 is a rap group we can only hope to contain.
People are always asking Jarv when he is going to rap again? C-4 is how we cater to those fans.
