Celtic Culture Exchange's Interests
|
| General | We work with organised community groups to enable them to empower themselves.
We work with Womens groups providing livestock and rotating loans, being on their side against people who want to push them around.
Would you poison your child if it was born disabled?
Many people in Pastoral Communities do. The lucky ones who survive are often taken to the only home of its kind. SHERPs We support SHERP (Samburu Handicapped Education Resource Program). Everyday people give a little every month and it goes directly to help these children. Food(meat, fruit and veg, rice and bread), water, disintectant, nappies, medical supplies waterproof mattresses, camels cows and goats. |

Celtic Culture Exchange's Blurbs |
About me:
Samburu is a semi-desert region in the North of Kenya. Historically it is an area, which has remained forgotten and inaccessible to the European colonialists and many feel by the Kenyan Government since independence.
The people of Samburu are pastoralists and cousins of the Maasai. They scratch out an existence driving their cattle and goats sometimes for many days in search of food and water.
In the past 7 years there have been severe droughts, many livestock have died and with the death of their animals the people have become poorer than they were before.
Our Commitment
We are committed to working with these people to enable them to realise their potential and provide their children and the community with a greater quality of life.
We have held long discussions with the different communities around Maralal within the Samburu district. They highlight education as the primary area in which our support can enable them to empower themselves.

Who I'd like to meet:
We would like to invite EVERYONE who doesn't think they would be interested in supporting communites at grass roots level to take a look at who we are and what we do. Contact us it might change your life.
We would like everyone who is cynical that charities just take money and never give it to the people who need it to speak to all those we have helped. Contact us and see how all our donations go to those for whom they are intended. You can even call them in KENYA!
