Oh, where to begin... well, bowling has been my favorite pastime for over twenty-five years. I also enjoy golf, running, karaoke, reading, writing poetry and essays, and discussing politics (read my blogs and you'll understand). I've recently gotten back to doing freehand graphic design and signmaking; it was an art that was lost long ago, and it's gaining attention both in store and out!
  • Music

Classic and classical, even though I grew up New Wave. I can be listing to the Floyd, Zeppelin, and AC/DC one day... Mozart, Pachelbel, and Vivaldi the next. I also enjoy Celtic music, especially Enya, Moya Brennan, and Clannad. Enya's Amarantine has been a favorite CD to play. Her latest CD, And Winter Came, was great to play this past Christmas! The album I hold most personal is Pink Floyd's The Division Bell from 1994; its theme is communication.
  • Movies

I have comedic blood, but I also enjoy a good romantic picture with a touch of surrealism (L.A. Story covers all three). Recently, Jeannie has gotten me hooked on more suspenseful flicks... y'know the mysteries, horrors, and who-done-its. We both enjoy the Halloween series... the originals, not the Rob Zombie remakes! Remember, Halloween IS a Celtic holiday (Samhain).
  • Television

I get a kick out of Gene Simmons Family Jewels; it's a classier version of The Osbournes. I followed KISS as a kid, and Gene Simmons was my favorite of the four. He lives with Shannon Tweed; his son Nick is so witty; and his daughter Sophie is so beautiful. There is never a boring moment in that household! I also dig sports, sports, and more sports... NASCAR, NFL, MLB, the PBA, IRL, and ESPN... Now that's alphabet soup! Favorite baseball teams are the Detroit Tigers and the St. Louis Cardinals. Favorite football teams are the Dallas Cowboys and the Detroit Lions... Hey, I'll admit it; the Lions showed the New England Patriots in 2008 what a perfect season really is! Favorite NASCAR driver: I'm pulling for Mark Martin to win the chase! In the IRL, I'm pro-Penske! In the NBA, I like the Boston Celtics and the Detroit Pistons. Hockey: a Red Wings fan all the way!
  • Books

I like anything dealing with history. In terms of literature, I dig the James Bond series and F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby. Right now, I'm reading The Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli and touching up on classic politics. Ah, the joys of being a history major!
  • Heroes

Only one from childhood: Rick Mears. He was a paradigm when it came to consistency, prudence, professionalism, and knowing when enough was enough (My approach to bowling is modeled around Rick's approach to racing). I saw him win two of his four Indy races in person ('88 and '91), and I was so sad when he retired in late '92. He said, however, that he could no longer give that 110% effort, that it was not fun anymore... and those reasons made me respect him even more! Sadly, I've never met him, and I would like to... someday... and I will!

About me:

Well, I'm a native of Port Clinton, Ohio. I was born Ryan Thomas Peebles in Adrian, Michigan and raised in Lyons, Ohio... a mere mile south of the border! I lived in Lyons for the first thirty years of my existence, Marblehead for another four, and finally P.C. to the present day. I'm 5'10", 130 pounds with blue eyes and brown hair which is slowly graying thanks to two stepdaughters and a baby boy (jus' kiddin'!). I'm a 1990 grad of Evergreen High School and a 1995 grad of The University of Toledo with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history. I gave myself the alias Celtic Kegler (1) for my Scottish-Irish ancestry and (2) for my love of bowling. I'm happily betrothed to the lovely Jeannie Lynn; we tied the knot in Lyons on April 21, 2007. As mentioned earlier, I have two stepdaughters, Emily Rae Shupe and Carrie Ann Shupe, and a son named Nicholas Ryan Peebles. My occupation is primarily in retail and sales, but I've taken a more active role with in-store advertising and display. Right now, I'm an employee of the Sandusky Home Depot, but I'm considering returning to school to better my chances in the ever-competitive job field.

Who I'd like to meet:

Rick Mears
