Influences
We started our career as the ultimate Pogues tribute band, but we grew out of that, and into our own sound. It would be hard to name all the influences running through this band. Everybody brings their own ideas to the table, and nobody has the last word.
Sounds Like
In the end, what we put into our music might not be what you get out of it- so you make the call on who we sound like. On any given night, you might hear The Clash meets Johnny Cash, or Bob Marley meets Bob Dylan; you might hear a centuries old Celtic melody over a drum part that would make Keith Moon proud. We don't break the rules- we don't even acknowledge them.
The Lash is an indie band in the purest sense of the concept. We don't have a publicist. What you see is what we are. We pay for our own records, and therefore, we do whatever we want. We aren't in anybody's pocket. We don't have roadies, so don't be afraid to ask if we need help loading out. We do. If you want to get to know us better, buy one of our records, or visit our web site, or talk to us at a show.
THIS JUST IN: Celtic Mayhem Live, The Lash's long out-of-print debut album, is now available from eFolkMusic.org!!
Hey guys! Wonderful show in at Mort's on Saturday! It was a great way to close my birthday weekend! And thanks for playing me a birthday song! I think that may have been a first for me! You guys rock! See you Saturday!
TIMMY!!!
P.S. You guys should come into town a bit early and come to the Irish festival at White Cap Stadium!
You guys sounded great last weekend at Nor'Easter. Looked around for you but couldn't find you, too bad we couldn't hang out, but hopefully sometime in the future.
Hey guys! Great show Friday night! The piano was an great addition! I have to say though, that I'm ready to see the regular line up again! The last two shows I've been to have been great, but not The Lash I'm used to! Well, if I can find some people to come with me and share in the gas expense, I may try to hit that Mor'easter Festival! Otherwise, I plan on hitting up the Festival of The Sun on the 21st! And I'm sure I'll have to twist a few arms to join me at a beer drinking festival! See you all soon!
Man...my girl and I missed out on your guys again..I've got to tell ya, since I've had this new job, I've done nothing but work. Which sucks cause I don't get the weekend's off to come see you guys. I'm sure it was an awesome show...:(
Yeah I mapquested Mio a few days ago and it appears to be about 2 1/2 - 3 hours north east of me...so I probably won't be heading there! But mabie...we'll see! See you guys Friday!
I'll see you guys Friday at the Rose! Hopefully all of your "3078 billion" friends show up, too! Well, I'll be there, so that counts! See you all then!
TIMMY!!!
P.S. You guys should do 'The Wolves Cry'. If you can't do it Friday, maybe you could do it on July 12th at Mort's for my birthday! (hint hint) ;^)
Unfortunately, I wont be able to make it to the Black Rose Saturday for the show! Aaron and Erik's band is playing in Detroit and they set up a party bus trip for it and I am going on that! They pretty much didn't really give me a choice on whether or not I was going. Anyway, I hope your show goes great! I think this may be the first GR show I'll be missing since I have been coming to see you guys! Well, the next show according to your schedule is June 6th at the Black Rose so I will for sure see you then!
Oh you're freckin' in for it now, I didn't know you were playing tonight, but now I'm sooooo gonna be there. Actually you told me you were playing tonight but I can usually barely even remember all your names let alone when you tell me you're playing.
See you tonight you cittern-playin' fiddlin' wackos.
I see you are playing the Black Rose on Saturday July 19th! Well, also that day here GR is The Great Lakes Irish Music Festival at Fifth Third Ball Park! You should see about getting on that! I just checked out the web site and it doesn't say whether or not it's all booked up yet but they don't have many bands listed on the site. See what you can find out! www. greatlakesirishmusicfestival. com I'm going to hit that up for sure, then head over to The Rose to see you guys! But since you are already heading to GR that day, see if you can join up on that gig!
Great show at The Black Rose last night! It was a little different but still just as good! You should bring Bob the stand up bass guy around again! He was phenomenal on that thing! See you all again soon!
