Interests

  • General

All things fiber--spinning, felting, knitting, crocheting, sewing/serging, dyeing, fur crafts, & more, including new techniques; poetry, sci-fi, horror, supernatural, art, games, computer stuff, blogs, life, love, & laughter.

  • Music

All types of kinds of music from classical to blues, ska to rap, reggae to new age, & rock'n'roll... After all, music soothes the savage beast...or at least that's what I've heard. LOL

  • Movies

Everything...I especially enjoyed movies: Action & musicals, but also enjoy chick flicks, horror, bios, police movies, musicals, thrillers, mysteries, comedy, sci-fi, romance, etc. The really good movies, I watch more than a few times. I also enjoy the old black & white movies, both talkies and silent. Some of the tech stuff back then was not too shabby considering the time & lack of the stuff we have now.

  • Television

Sci-fi, crime, dramas, most movies, hobby (sewing, crafts, knitting, woodworking) & gardening shows. I hate sitcoms with their phony canned laughter, as if we wouldn't know when to laugh--that really bothers me a lot. Most times, much of what they use the canned laughs for isn't that funny anyway, so I don't watch sitcoms cuz of the phoniness. I really like Animal Planet. Meerkat Manor is one of the cutest shows I've ever seen--that's one great sitcom (if you can call it a sitcom). I also enjoyed the look at the Real Lost World as well as a look at Mars. I watch RFD, Reelz & G4, as well as VH1, MTV, etc, and old movies on TCM and AMC, as well as to listen to satellite music.

  • Books

Sci Fi & Fantasy, reference books, biographies, history, new age-y stuff, but not religious books--though I have read the Bible (read 4 times & the others once), the Torah (English translation), the Koran (English translation), the book of Bahai, & a few others. Sounds like there is a trend, doesn't it? I like informational/regference types of books & I love learning. Poetry, short stories, novels, novellas, dictionaries, etc. You name it, I've probably read it.

  • Heroes

Anyone who is working to make our world a better place, whether helping the environment, the poor, the ill, the indigent, or anyone/anything who needs help...all of them are heroes in my eyes, especially parents. Single moms & dads who raise their kids & don't get support from their x-spouses. Pople who work & people who teach in schools are especially high up on the list. People who stand up to the government or other authority figures & do something about things they're doing wrong, even if it's writing letters, if they think something is wrong with what they're doing, even if it means nothing changes, they still try to do something about it. The statistics are that for every person who actually sits down & writes a letter letting a public official, or anyone, know they don't like what they're doing, it means that you are representing 10,000 people. I think that is pretty cool. People who are fighting against abuse, whether child sexual abuse or spousal abuse or abuse of our environment or government. They try to help to stop it. Those people are also heroes in my book. Keep up the great work!!!

About me:

55 yo, married, fiber artist, & instructor. I raise Alpacas, Icelandic & sheep in Washington State on my ranch/farm called Celtic Crossroads. You can see more of my animals & our farm @ Celtic Crossroads: http://www.CelticXroads.net

I have two grown daughters, who are out of college now, & lots of relatives, & friends all over the world. I met my husband of almost 12 years on Match.Com before it was bought by the big conglomerates. Good thing, too. I could never recommend Match.Com now. We were friends for a year before we ever met face-2-face. When we finally did meet, he proposed within a day (New Year's Eve, no less). So, I flew back to Seattle, WA, with an engagement ring. We married on Valentine's Day about 1-2 months after we met. We're still very happy, though there are always challenges.

I sell yarn, fleece, fiber, garments, items for the whole family, toys, & other items at the local farmers' market. I teach spinning, knitting, & crocheting at the local yarn/fiber store & in my home studio. I've won 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place ribbons for my yarn & knitted and/or crocheted items at shows/fairs/festivals throughout the area, so I know I'm making quality products for my customers.

I write for several magazines & on-line sites with articles about spinning, knitting, crocheting, about my life, farm/ranch, & animals. If you have any interests like these, contact me, I love to chat about all kinds of things & love to learn.
To love and win is the best thing. To love and lose, the next best.

Who I'd like to meet:

Georgia O'Keefe, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Elizabeth Kubler-Ross, Robert Redford, Paul Newman, Sara Teasdale, Albert Einstein, Queen Elizabeth, Sylvia Plath, the Bloomsbury Group, the Sewing Circle, Oscar Wilde, Elizabeth Zimmerman, Meg Swanson, Kaffe Fassett, Chanel, Anais Nin, Calvin Klein, Matisse, Picasso, Jack Kerouac (and his group of friends), among many others. I'd love to do a round table & have great discussions with all sorts of interesting people.

Your Life Path Number is 22

Your purpose in life is to use your power for good

Of all the life paths, yours has the most innate power.

Your power lies in your vision, and you must recruit others to help you in this vision.

You are able to be a great idealist, but you still have the practicality to get things done.

In love, you tend to be a big romantic - but you also tend to keep your distance.

You have a lot of potential, and it's sometimes hard to live up to.

Sometimes you just feel like slipping into obscurity and doing nothing.

You tend to be prone to dramatic emotions, until you step back and look at things honestly.

This is a day of sadness for me - a dear friend has passed away unexpectedly. So I am sending some cheers to my new friends on myspace and I also wish to say, if there is someone you haven't seen or talked to in awhile, don't put it off - get in touch NOW. Tomorrow could be too late. ..................................

    ..

I will try this in Portuguese - but remember, I am just learning...

Este é um dia de tristeza - um amigo morreu de repente. Eu estou dando alguma felicidade a meus amigos novos no myspace. Eu quero também dizer, se você tiver um amigo que você quer ver, phone os agora para dizer dia bom. Amanhã podem ser idos.
