Center Hill started as a simple collaboration of a few Roanoke area musicians. It has sprouted into a full fledged act with shows around the East Coast playing original music and a few cover songs. Center Hill is based out of Roanoke, VA, but willing to book across the US, mostly East Coast. Lately we have enjoyed playing most weekends of the summer at the Sand Dunes Resort in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Glen
Glen Gray, originally from Newport News VA, has been playing sax for over half of his life. He's played in numerous bands throughout his career and draws inspiration from the great horn bands of the past: Chicago, Tower of Power, Blood Sweat and Tears. As a trained musician, Glen has been well versed in classical playing as well as jazz and funk and brings that to his horn playing in the band.
Lincoln
Born and raised in Roanoke, Virginia, I have been interested in music all my life and played piano for six years. It wasn't until January 2006 that I found myself seriously playing around with my dad's old Ludwig drum set; it has been my passion ever since. I played on and off with friends from high school, but nothing ever too big. After my first few months at Roanoke College I was asked to join Center Hill in early 2009, and the rest is history. I am influenced by most any kind music with a good groove, but more specifically Red Hot Chili Peppers, Spin Doctors, Sly and the Family Stone, and endless others.
David
David Christianson, of Salem, VA has been playing the piano for as long as he can remember. He has played guitar for 10 years and has always enjoyed testing his musical abilities. He has a wide variety of influences and brings another ear to the band that can find harmonies both vocally as well as musically.
Legend
Josh DeGeorge has been playing music since he was in fourth grade band. A native of Butler Pennsylvania, Josh attended Butler High School were he was an active member of the symphonic and jazz bands. Throughout high school he participated in numerous district and regional symphonic bands and jazz bands. Josh attended West Virginia University where he received his Bachelors of Music. Josh has played saxophone with numerous groups around the Morgantown, and Pittsburgh areas. Josh has also been an assistant instructor at the International Summer Jazz Academy in Krakow, Poland for two years where he teaches music theory and small jazz combos. As the most recent member of Center Hill Josh brings a variety of influences to the group pulling from jazz artists like Dexter Gordon, and Miles Davis as well as funk and R&B. Josh has recently expanded his musical interests to the bass and has enjoyed pushing the limits of his musical abilities.
