Harps of Fuchsia Kalmia & Delphine Dora - "s/t"
www.myspace.com/harpsofuchsiakalmia
www.myspace.com/delphinedora
[Harps of Fuchsia Kalmia is the new project of Salvatore Borelli (wodrous
horse, etre), author of an original folk in free from (with an album for the
finalnd label Ikuisuss) played with strange and weird ethnic instruments
like : balalaika, dulcetina, concertina, autoharp, bells, xylophone, tablas,
darbukas, turkish saz, xylophone, esraj, dulcimer, resonant ukulele, celtic
"droned" harp, banjo, kalimba, shruti box, irish bouzouki, lap steel guitar...).
Delphine Dora is a french artist, who learned the piano (classical
background) as a child for 9 years. She started to do music again at the age
of 24, concentrating to record her own stuff, more spontaneously: free-form
songs, in an imaginary and oniric langage, exploring the many possibilities
of piano and voice expression. They collaboration is a perfect combination
of they different approach to the music. The result is really original, a
sort of elegant free folk united with austere but also spontaneously minimal
chamber music.] PACKAGING : CDR 3” in a sort of digifile created from a letter-bag /
lim.ed. 50 copies

Truth Behind the Curtain - "s/t"
www.myspace.com/mildeweddonuts
[First album of Truth Behind the Curtain, the project of Marc H. (accompanied
in one song by the great guitar of Jamie Thomson). 6 songs of mystic forest
folk that drown in a sea of reverberated ambient. Dilatated arpeggios,
ritual tablas' rhythms, soft backgorund of field recordings and drones...
very near to the first recordings of six organs of admittance or like a post
ambient version of vashti bunyan. This is a very representative album of "Centre
of Wood" aesthetic thanks its blurry forest feeling and imaginary (clear
also on the titles of the songs like "wind tales"; "underground forest" & "tra-la-la
swamp")]
PACKAGING : CDR in heavy 2 pannels brown cardboard that can be opened, with
a little poster inside / lim.ed. 50 copies

Grains - "Cranes"
www.myspace.com/grainsmusic
[The Ultra-Weirdness-Nightmare continue! After the experience with Ubzub (do
you remember the most absurd band of the '90??? The crippleds aliens
childrens of Residents???) an ex member come back on the earth with a new
one man band called "Grains". He descrive his music in this way : "Some
depressed guy playing repetitive riffs on an acoustic guitar." and this is
true... but don't think about emo music or something like that. The sounds
of Grains is full of alienation; talk about sadness, heartache, misfortune,
despair, failure, rejection... it's repetitive and obssesive ad nauseam.
When stand out the voice the music look like an unplugged version of the
mother-band Ubzub under ketamin...] PACKAGING : CDR in 2 pannels heavy carboard with swampy graphics,
limited edition to 120 copies

Family Battle Snake / We Wait for the Snow - "Split"
www.myspace.com/familybattlesnake
www.myspace.com/wewaitforthesnow
[After the long work for the packaging creation finally it's available the
split of Family Battle Snake with We Wait for the Snow! If you have already
confidence with the underground weird music probablly you don't need
informations about F.B.S's project. Indeed Bill Kouligas (the only man
behind the project) is active since many years and have released a lot of
solo albums (under Beyond Repair, Blackest Rainbow...) split (with Alistair
Crosbie, Astro...) and collaborations (Sudden Infant, Ashtray Navigations...)
without forgeting the incredible live activity (with Faust, Carlos Giffoni,
Wolf Eyes, Black Dice, Prurient, Corsano, Psychic Tv ... and this are only
the most "famous"). Originally the sound of Family Battle Snake was tie to
the extreme noise drone but in the last performances appeared not so violent
and much more oriented to an heavy psichedelic dronic magma. In this split
he presents two long tracks inspired by the infamous & bizzare performance
video art "Impudenz Im Grunewald" by the Vienna Aktionist: Gunter Brus. The
second part of the cd is occupied by 4 new songs of We Wait for the Snow,
the music project of Andrea Penso (the "boss" of centre of wood / cold
current and active also with the music project Selaxon Lutberg). Recorded
during the permanence in an isolate countryhouse in Bracciano these new
songs are really impregnate of a bucolic and environmental feeling. Image
the words of "Walden; or, Life in the Woods" (the book of Henry David
Thoreau) converted in music... or something like that... probably more
dreaming oriented. PACKAGING : a complete handmade digipack (no plastic) with 4 insert,
limited edition to 120 copies

Enfer Boréal - "Seven Ways"
www.virb.com/enferboreal
[Enfer Boréal is the solo project of Maxime Primault from France, also
member of Saturn Finger, with Jani Hirvonen (Uton, Aan). In the last two
years Maxime became a main figure in the freefolk & drones scene thanks to a
large series of releases printed under some of the most interesting labels
of the genere like Ikuisuus, Ruralfaune, 267 Lattajjaa e Cuthands. "Sevene
Ways" is a little and very fascinating gem of electro acoustic music (but
far from the intellectual mannerism of this kind of music). Soft drones and
manipolated field recordings leave space to a pacific and oniric melody like
in the last minutes of the wonderful track "dust whipers, chocolate toth,
lost jewel". Two long tracks (recorded in April 2008 in Patn, Nepal) in them
discreet advance solemnly hided an enormous evocative power able to project
the listener directly in a big and thick asian forest.] PACKAGING : little wood board; on the cover a photo of an awesome
tree and back the credits. Limited to 50 copies numbered with stamp directly
on the wood.

Maximillian I - "Elastic Toys for Mongospastic Boys"
www.myspace.com/maximilliani
[Cult band from Rome! Surely one of the most credible noise-rock band from
Italy! Only a guitar and a battery + sample, broken toy keyboards and
effects for a raw storm of psychopatic noise without controll. Image an
hardcore version of Dead C...or something like that.] PACKAGING : CDR on heavy cardboard find in garbage bin of a discount,
on the cover a great paint by Valeria Valentini, around the paint there is a
wire... raw!
[C.O.W.007]
Aalto - "s/t"
www.myspace.com/etnoaalto
[This album is composed of two different recordings, Aalto and "Aalto
Senior". The peaceful "Intro" starts with the banjo-sounding doshpuluur and
throat singing plus rain stick. Then also the sitar joins in. Later on there
is also some beautiful female voice that takes turns with the throat singing
and some percussion as well. A great and hypnotic opener! "Rajastan Pimp"
has at first just didgeridoo, but soon grows along with sitar and percussion.
This one has a very Oriental feel to it. It's a drone-like number that also
includes some clarinet. The wordless, small-scale female voice joins in
after about three minutes. After four minutes the track speeds up. "Vedenneito"
starts off with female vocals, then there is some doshpulur, acoustic guitar
and a little bit of percussion. This is a nice song and nature speaks to us
through it. The interesting "Metsätaloushöömei" is an apologia for forests
including for example doshpuluur, acoustic guitar, throat singing and little
bit f rhythm. "Päivän poika" utilises Kalevala verse and is a good, a bit
Oriental track with sitar ending the newer part of the album.
On Aalto Senior Sampo's main partner was the singer and producer Hanna
Uotinen. "Vesipisaroita" begins with acoustic flageolet-notes. The Pekka
Streng-like, soft male vocals and the female voices bring in a dreamy,
excellent folk mood. Imre Peemot plays the Mongolian igil and Kalle Nieminen
the Jew's harp on the track "Kova kehtolaulu" that has a soft, magical and
primitive atmosphere. This instrumental works very well! There is an archaic
rhythm in "Lintu" along with female vocals and hypnotic guitar. The positive
and airy "Linnut takaisin kotiin" has a jazzy rhythm and ends the album with
acoustic guitar, clarinet, vocals and birdsong. Aalto is an excellent ethnic
folk band!] PACKAGING : CDR (protected in recycled paper with a little handmade
stamp) inside a full colour 2 pannels cardboard packaging cloused with a
cotton thread

Abba Zabba - "Hollenbackinfakie / Today" www.myspace.com/abbazabbahome
[Abba Zabba is a singer- songwriter from Trieste, in NorthEastern Italy. He
started singing when he was seven with the support of his grandpa. After a
period with some local bands, he started again with a solo project..His
roots are mainly a lot of classic soul stuff... He composes songs to"
exorcise demons" (he says) and to keep alive moments or feelings of his
life. He writes by instinct, pure magic. Just like his hometown lays by the
sea and it's surrounded by rocky forests and caves, his music is open to new
horizons and, at the same time, maintains a strong sense of intimacy and
discretion. This is a double CDR, "Hollenbackinfakie" (CDr 1) is melancholic
and inmost sound oriented, "Today" (CDr 2) is more "open" and direct to a
sort of peaceful fingerpicking folksongs. Both the albums have incredible
arrangemts of guitar, vocals, violin, glockenspiel, bass and drums] PACKAGING : 2xCDR inside a coloured 2 pannels cardboard packaging,
with a very sweet artwork
