Bio
This is the official Ceremonium myspace page. Pioneering New York death metal band were a driving force formed in 1992 creating the darkest death metal music ever; making a path all their own. The band released "Into the Autumn Shade" in 1995 to world acclaim followed by the second album "No Longer Silent" issued in 2000. Earlier efforts include the "Nightfall in Heaven" 7' ep, and Demo 1993, plus varied compilation appearances for labels Pavement Records and Lost Disciple Records as well. During the mid 90's- 2001 the band gained spots on many national and local shows. Some of those that shared the stage were Crucifier, Rottrevore, Brutal Truth, Immolation, Mortician, Deathrune, Decrepit, Grief, Napalm Death, Unleashed, Macabre, Amon Amarth, Lucifers Hammer, Milwaukee, Tennessee, and Candian Metal fests and countless more. Despite being inactive now Ceremonium will be releasing "Dreams We Have Written" discography through Weird Truth Productions early 2011. It will contain both albums, plus the forementioned material now out of print. It will be a two disc set. Look for this release soon and check back here often for updates. New t-shirts released through Destro Records to celebrate it in time before the 2010 winter holidays are coming soon also. If you have any old material (flyers, pics, playlists) send them in to possibly appear on the page. Any other contact, emails sent in etc, will be replied when possible. the coming darkness... -

Sounds Like
"New York Death Metal is synonymous with the brutal, rhythmic style pioneered by Suffocation, Baphomet, Morpheus Descends and the less-than-able proliferous hordes who followed. The region was no stranger to slower, Doom-influenced Metal, but the surge in popularity of Brutal Death Metal and the faux-tough-guy images of wiggers that came with it saw that bands like Winter, Sorrow and Ceremonium would not receive much attention within or after the span of their careers. Of all the aforementioned cursed undertakers of doom, it was the last of them to disband after a relatively lengthy existence who created enduring albums that had as much in common with the European tradition of melodicism as they did the desultory and engulfing heaviness induced by their own locality." - by Deathmetal.org (the ultimate death metal resource) <br> "Just as you nestle into the plodding tempo and find yourself being tossed about by the power struggle between twisted Autopsy riffage ("Pillars of Wisdom") and clean guitar parts, the interspersed speed in "Blessing of the Flame" and "Forever Enthroned" violently snaps you out of the trance with a brutal jolt. Synths quietly enter the fray to thicken this already gray sounding production (courtesy of Jim Forbes) and their interaction is great for heaping on the atmosphere. A very tasteful element indeed." -Metal Maniacs <br> "Direct attacks in progressions of riff iterating rhythm through the points of a melody assembled in conclusive denouement in the epic metal style of Black Sabbath or Judas Priest, placing song structure into a recombinant but complex series of layers switching a matrix of bits stored in coordinates of relative distance to a resonant core, build song intensity as harmonic layering in the style that Scandinavian melodic bands adapted from Iron Maiden." -by Anus.com

CEREMONIUM: I guess not many of today's kids have any idea about a doomy Death Metal band from New York called CEREMONIUM. The band started out in 1992 - and they existed roughly about 11 years - and ceased to exist.

Just wanted to say I'm glad you guys are releasing some new/old material. I'm assuming "Dreams We Have Written" is a compilation of old & new but anyway, I'm stoked! The two full-length albums you guys produced was some of the best Black/Doom/Death metal I've ever heard in my life. Brutal yet emotional. Amazing!

This new material is much better than the old material I heard back in the 90's, and I liked the old material too! This album is going on my 'LIST'. Good work warriors!
