Ceremony of Opposites is in 2005 opgericht door As, Pascal en Marcel. In afwachting van een vaste drummer werden er wel al nummers geschreven.
In de persoon van Sander (ex- Ground Control) werd een drummer gevonden die binnen twee weken de set moest kennen, want in mei stonden de eerse optredens gepland. Na een aantal maanden in deze bezetting gespeeld te hebben, werd besloten om een demo op te nemen. In september 2005 is toen in de Edisound studio in Tilburg in 1 dag de demo The Fear Within opgenomen. Voor het mixen werd ook 1 dag uitgetrokken, waarna in december de presentatie plaatsvond in De Grote Schouw te Tilburg.
In het jaar 2006 waren er veel optredens geboekt, waaronder 2 optredens in België en 1 in Duitsland. De band heeft het podium gedeeld met o.a. The Lucifer Principle, After Forever, Blo.Torch, Dream of Nebiros (Mexico), Born From Pain en Fuelblooded. Het vele optreden heeft ervoor gezorgd dat de bandleden muzikaal naar elkaar zijn toegegroeid en dit komt ook de podiumpresentatie ten goede.
De stijl van de band is het best te omschrijven als death metal met invloeden uit o.a. de thrash- en black metal. De band is eind 2006 de studio weer ingedoken om haar eerste full length CD, genaamd Death’s Dominion, op te nemen. De CD werd in december 2006 en januari 2007 opgenomen in de Edisound studio in Tilburg waar de CD ook gemixed en gemastered is. De nummers op Death’s Dominion laten horen dat de band zich het afgelopen jaar muzikaal heeft ontwikkeld. De cleane vocalen zijn verdwenen en de snelheid is opgevoerd, zonder daarbij het melodieuze uit het oog te verliezen. Daarnaast zijn de nummers beter in opbouw geworden en is er een betere sound gevonden. Death’s Dominion is 25 mei 2007 in eigen beheer gereleased. Het doel van de band is om zoveel mogelijk live te spelen.
BIOGRAPHY ENGLISH
Ceremony of Opposites was started in 2005 by As, Pascal en Marcel. They didn’t want to wait for a drummer and decided to already write songs.
Sander (ex-Ground Control) took the vacant place behind the drums and he had to know the complete set within two weeks, because in May the first gigs were planned. After a few months playing together, the band decided to record a demo. In September 2005 “The Fear Within was recorded in 1 day at the Edisound studio in Tilburg. Mixing the demo also took a day, and in December 2005 the presentation of the demo took place at De Groote Schouw in Tilburg.
In the year 2007 a lot of gigs were played, amongst those 2 gigs in Belgium and 1 gig in Germany. The band shared the stage with a.o. The Lucifer Principle, After Forever, Detonation, Sinister, Blo. Torch, Dream of Nebiros (Mexico), Born from Pain and Fuelblooded. Playing this many gigs together, was a major factor in understanding each other better on the musical level and it also contributed to a better stage performance.
The style of the band can be subscribed as death metal with influences from a.o. thrash- and black metal. The band went into the studio at the end of 2006 to record her first full length CD, called “Death’s Dominion. The CD was recorded in December 2006 and January 2007 at the Edisound studio in Tilburg where the CD also was mixed and mastered.
The songs on “Death’s Dominion” show the musical development of the band in the last year. The clean vocals are gone and the speed of the songs has gone up, without loosing the melodic parts in the music. Also the structure of the songs is improved and a better sound has been found. “Death’s Dominion” was released privately May 25 2007. The goal of the band is playing live as much as possible

After years of wandering without notion, in the rotten swamp of musical ignorance, I have found my dark calling. Ill only open my throat for hellish screams, brute grunts and a horrifying clean voice. Besides the vocal violence I wont pull back from torturing my six-string of death. In Ceremony of Opposites I use both (earplugs required, available at the merchandise-stand). Favourite bands: Opeth, Dimmu Borgir, Dream Theater, Cannibal Corpse, Vader, Dark Tranquillity, Gorefest, and many more... Other interests: Metal, Cars, Movies, Internet

In a dark past, before mobile phones existed, the time of LPs (you know, those large black round-shaped things) and the Willem Ruis Loto Show (a Dutch TV-quiz with a very well known presenter, hes dead now), Ive played in the a the time notorious musical underworld of Tilburg.
Some of the illustrious figures Im proud to say Ive shared the stage with are Ruud Jolie (currently Within Temptation) and Joey & Robert (Up the Irons). At one point in time I lacked inspiration and put a stop to my musical activities. After many years of hibernation I dug up my instrument of torture and made my services available for Ceremony of Opposites. Favourite bands: Autumn, After Forever, Iron Maiden, Nightwish, Therion, Up The Irons. Other interests: Visit metalgigs, and writing my own music...
Bio As
In a pub (Sleëer) near the dark caves in Limburg my metal cradle was rocked. After being only a passive consumer of evil music for many, many, many, many years, Ive been caught in 2004 by the Virus of the Bass. Since then I play my four-stringed monster for the honour and glory of Ceremony of Opposites. Im also responsible for the additional grunts (you should see the terror on the face of the unsuspecting sound-engineer when were doing our soundcheck; such a nice looking girl with such a brutal voice). Favourite bands: Ablaze my Sorrow, After Forever, Arch Enemy, At The Gates, Casual Silence, Children of Bodom, Dark Tranquillity, Devildriver, Dimmu Borgir, Gorefest, Hail of Bullets, Hypocrisy, Iron Maiden, Morbid Angel, Orphanage, Rotting Christ, Pestilence, Slayer, The Lucifer Principle, Trail of Tears, Up the Irons, and many more... My craving for banging on drums, unfortunately for parents and neighbours, started really early. After a few years of terrorising the neighbourhood, I have declared my first drumkit clinically dead and buried it. Unfortunately the time to recuperate was short.
At this time Im abusing both an electric and an acoustic drumkit. My first steps on stage were with Ground Control (RIP 2001) together with my brother Jochem currently playing in Textures, and a short time in Jimmy D. Since May 2005 I am responsible for the sonic bombardment in Ceremony of Opposites. Favourite bands: Soilwork, Arch Enemy, Iron Maiden, The Haunted, In Flames, Dimmu Borgir, Textures, Megadeth, Malevolent Creation, Meshuggah, Defleshed. Other interests: Play drums, watching movies, internet, going to the bar.

I thought I'd like to be Aphrodite (The goddess of love), but that is no fun. I would rather be Artemis (ARTEMIS was the virgin goddess of the hunt. She helped women in childbirth but also brought sudden death with her arrows.) Badass!
