Cerrato are siblings Maria (vocal and guitar) and Luis Cerrato (synthesizer and vocal) who grew up together in a small Norwegian city, sharing musical preferences and inspirational sources for years. As teenagers their tastes in music took somewhat different paths, but they have always agreed on what it is that makes a
song good.
The establishing of Cerrato is hard to date back with accuracy (much due to the sibling factor) but by now the band have experienced years of live performing, two previously released records and high rotation on national radio for a couple of their singles. Right now in 2007 Cerrato are releasing their second full album The Ecstasy of Waiting on their own label Star Impex Records and for distribution throughout Europe.
The Ecstasy of Waiting is an album that the siblings felt was lacking. They simply decided to make a record that they would want to listen to together, and this is probably one of the main reasons for the album’s uniqueness. Another highly noticeable reason is of course the distinct character and sadness of Maria’s voice. The Ecstasy of Waiting is an indie record flavored by melodramatic, witty, progressive and danceable
synth pop allowing melancholy, drama and playfulness accompany each other in such a way that the album
reaches out to a wide range of both synth fans and electronic pop lovers.
