The Songcast says "This is a great rock CD with good songs, period." Alooga Media radio has put the CD in serious rotation in Germany, as they did with the band's first release. Cowboy Cantor, in Portugal, highlighted the band in December 2008. 88.9 Radio Milwaukee has put Certain Stars in heavy rotation.
Partnering with Cuba Libre Records, Certain Stars second release, the 5-song "Wired for Sound", is out now and receiving airplay and praise here and across the Atlantic.
Forwarding the melodic sound and powerpop of bands such as Superchunk and Big Star, a Certain Stars hook can take up space in your head for days. The band believes in writing good songs and playing them well. That conviction landed songs from their first CD (2004) "Times Like These Call for Tambourines" on VirginDigital's "So Indie It Hurts" webcasts, alongside industry favorites like Pavement and Liz Phair.
Previously, as the band "Cudahy" they released the quirky pop gem "Millenia EP" in 1998. In 2003 the band became Certain Stars and enlisted Milwaukee band veterans Chris Voss (formerly First Third) and Greg Hein (formerly Powerwagon). All members take on songwriting duties that uniquely add to the whole.
In November 2006 Certain Stars recorded five new songs at Coney Island Studios in Madison, Wisconsin. Choosing to record to 1" Analog tape brought the band closer to their live sound than ever before, and the results can be heard on the Wired for Sound EP.
A Certain Stars live show reveals a seasoned band playing with conviction, heart and energy!
Wired for Sound is available at iTunes, CDBaby.com and in Milwaukee at Rushmore Records. Support indepedent music stores!
