The Songcast says "This is a great rock CD with good songs, period." Alooga Media radio has put the CD in serious rotation in Germany, as they did with the band's first release
Partnering with Cuba Libre Records, Certain Stars second release, the 5-song "Wired for Sound", is out now and receiving airplay and praise here and across the Atlantic.
Forwarding the melodic sound and powerpop of bands such as Superchunk and Big Star, a Certain Stars hook can take up space in your head for days. The band believes in writing good songs and playing them well. That conviction landed songs from their first CD (2004) "Times Like These Call for Tambourines" on VirginDigital's "So Indie It Hurts" webcasts, alongside industry favorites like Pavement and Liz Phair.
Previously, as the band "Cudahy" they released the quirky pop gem "Millenia EP" in 1998. In 2003 the band became Certain Stars and enlisted Milwaukee band veterans Chris Voss (formerly First Third) and Greg Hein (formerly Powerwagon). All members take on songwriting duties that uniquely add to the whole.
In November 2006 Certain Stars recorded five new songs at Coney Island Studios in Madison, Wisconsin. Recording direct to 1" Analog tape, engineer Wendy Schneider got the band closer to their explosive live sound than ever before. The strength of songs and driving rock sound should find the "Wired for Sound" EP garnering more airplay and favorable notice.
A Certain Stars live show reveals a seasoned band playing with conviction, heart and energy.
Wired for Sound is available in Milwaukee at Atomic Records and Rushmore Records. Support indepedent music stores!

An artist, in giving a concert, should not demand an entrance fee but should ask the public to pay, just before leaving as much as they like. From the sum he would be able to judge what the world thinks of him - and we would have fewer mediocre concerts. ~Kit Coleman, Kit Coleman: Queen of Hearts
Hello back to you both! Can't make Friday--sorry. Maybe I'll see you on Sat. @ The Monkey Bar for Speed Freaks? Show @ 10:00, going on last, so like 12:30?
Luckily after Boston I don't have any more vacations, so I'm pretty sure I will be in town when you have a show for once. Wish I could go the 16th. Kick some ass.
Ha! You didn't have to do that, but it is a totally sweet-ass sachel!!! I'll have to arrive a little earlier next time. And I'm gonna bring your band up to the Miller's about playing at our summer bash in June!
Kyle...thanks for letting me know about the show. I wish we could be there but I only have a sitter for Saturday night. So bummed! Hopefully we will be able to make some shows soon. Please keep in touch and let me know when your playing again.
