For me, writing what I love meant writing a vampire story. INTENDED is a YA gothic fantasy with sharp edges, an irreverent tone, hot immortal guys, and one spunky sixteen-year-old’s battle to accept herself and claim her place in a world that literally has teeth. I'm told fans of Buffy and Twilight alike will really love it. I've already begun working on the sequel, titled UNFAITHFUL because my beta readers wanted more! I'm really excited about this book.
SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL is a work of mainstream YA fiction. This unlikely love story between a goth and a prep begs the questions: who are you really - deep down inside? And can you ever really reinvent yourself and leave your past behind? The closest thing I can think of to compare it to is Laurie Halse Anderson, one of my favorite YA authors. If you haven't read her books, you really should, no matter how old you are!
And, if you know me, you probably already know there's always a song in my head or on my lips. Here's the soundtrack to SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL - the songs tell the story!
