Cha-Cha Jones is the Truth Posted at 5:01 AM Dec 1, 2008 view more
About me: Native Atlantan Cha-Cha Jones is a DJ, music connoisseur, community figure, voice-over performer, & burgeoning actress. As a radio show host for 8 years & DJ for over half of those, she says of her musical taste, "I've always loved really soulful music with something to say. With the rising of artists like Jill Scott, India Arie, Anthony Hamilton, Erykah Badu, Anthony David, Musiq and others, she says “I’m glad to see the music that I love become more popular in the mainstream.”
Cha-Cha Jones has opened for Kanye West, Res, Kelis, India, Bilal, Jill Scott, Fertile Ground, Anthony David, Donnie, and several other poets and performers. She’s played the Funkjazz Kafe in Atlanta and the Jazz Café in London, and countless special events in Atlanta and across the country.
Led into radio by a desire to work in and around her passion [music], she began volunteering at WRFG Atlanta and landed a spot as co-host of The World Party. As an entering student at Georgia State University, she became a part of The Weekend Wrekkin’ Crew (WWC) of WRAS Atlanta. Flourishing at the largest college station in the nation (100,000 watts), she soon became the hostess and #1 promoter of Urban Flava: Atlanta’s Soul & Acid Jazz.
Soon, the young lady affectionately known as “Ms. Cha” was a full-time reading specialist & grad student, audio engineering intern, and radio hostess on WRAS Atlanta. One summer she took an offer for a part-time position with Hot 107.9, WHTA Atlanta. Exposure to the commercial side of the industry led to an opportunity to work with the TRUTH campaign as a traveling DJ and radio personality on TRUTH FM. Later she would become Marketing Manager for GTM (Guerilla Tactics Marketing) and additionally, go on to audio engineer records for Ludacris, Sleepy Brown, Brandy, and Earth, Wind, & Fire under the helm of Rico Wade & The Dungeon Family.
In 2009, Cha-Cha continues to multi-task. As a Voice-Over Talent, DJ, and Burgeoning Actress; a love for music continues to influence her lifestyle. “I’m working to expand my radio & voice over experience to include film and television. I’m sharpening my chops and developing ideal jobs for me- DJing, conveying messages through media & marketing… providing sound for mixers, films, fashion & art shows… classy affairs- where I get to play music that doesn’t get the mainstream push along with the radio jams. I love to DJ for people who love MUSIC! One thing is for sure, whenever you see the name Cha-Cha Jones; know that quality is in the building.
Who I'd like to meet: In Atlanta, we refer to it as "Good People"
