Bio
.. .. .. .. .. .. .. .................... The Chad Hammock Band consists of five current and former Texas A&M students who originally hailed from as far as Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Boston, and Mexico. Like their respective hometowns, their tastes in music vary, and each member brings his own flavor to the table. Ask any one member of the band what’s in his car right now and you might hear anything from Zepplin, Aerosmith, Hendrix, John Mayer, Matchbox Twenty, Counting Crows, Joe Cocker, James Booker, Jeff Buckley, Willie Nelson, or many more. When Chad and Austin met in 2006, Chad had already cut his first ten song cd titled “Rough Cuts” that included original full band and acoustic tracks as well as a cover of Steve Earl’s Copperhead Road and a previously un-released track written by Cody Canada of Cross Canadian Ragweed titled Midnight Train. Austin brought the first new flavor to the music, and the duo began playing acoustic shows around College Station, Dallas, and Houston. By mid 2007, Miles had joined the band and Greg Wilson rounded out the group on bass. The band’s second show was at the Texas Hall of Fame in Bryan, TX opening for Charlie Robison. Several months and a couple band members later, the group cut their first record together in Austin, TX with producer Keith Davis. The result was ten original songs written by Chad and the band, and the project was titled “Shadows on the Wall.” Jorge joined the band in early 2008, followed by John Keathley on keys in early 2009 until John McClean took over in the fall. The current line-up is making a name for itself at venues across the state from The Hall of Fame, Schotzi’s, Midnight Rodeo, the Red Moon Café, Lone Star Saloon, Texas Tavern, the Auslander, Armadillo Palace, the Austin Rodeo, Tavern in the Gruene, and High-Lifter Mud Nationals 2010 to name a few. They have set the stage for acts like Jack Ingram, Wade Bowen, Sean McConnell, Stoney LaRue, Robert Earl Keen, Ray Wylie Hubbard, and more. You may have heard their music featured on radio shows like Justin Frazell’s Front Porch Show, Texas Nation with Chris Austin, Main Street Crossing with Matt Matthews, or on the Ranch with Jim Nash and Carey Dean. The first single from “Shadows on the Wall” is titled Follow the Lone Star and speaks of a man who just wants to find his way home and a “drifter” who helps him get there. Also on the record are tracks like “Broken Hearts” and "Paint This Town"; “Ghosts” which was the band’s first full collaborative effort and their favorite track to play; and “Coming Down” which is about how, or how not to deal with things you can’t control. If you were to ask someone what kind of music does the Chad Hammock Band play, some might say country, some rock, while some would say “I don’t know what you call it…” The band likes it that way. Come see them for yourself at their next gig. You can be sure to hear some music that gets your feet moving and your hands tapping. You might even sing along.
